  1. Am I serious about what? I was unaware that Tamron Hall relocated to the new studio. Everybody doesn’t know everything, and thank you for informing me. There’s a more polite way that you could have informed me of that, instead of your usual sarcasm. Again, If you’re going to respond to anything I post check your tone first. I always reply to people respectfully on this thread, give me the same courtesy. You aside, the new studios are terrific so far. The lighting on The View also looks very good. Hoping the upcoming WABC set is just as great.

  2. Paramount may yank all of their channels (including ALL CBS O&O AND affiliates) from YouTube TV tomorrow if they don't reach an agreement... https://variety.com/2025/digital/news/youtube-tv-dispute-paramount-cbs-comedy-central-mtv-1236306040/ UPDATE: If a deal is not reached, the channels are set to go dark tonight at 11pm ET. And if there is an extended outage, YTTV customers can get an $8 bill credit...

  4. Nexstar is paying $35 million for KUSI in San Diego. They already have KSWB, so expect a lot of changes out of this move (including a CW move if Tegna backs out).

  5. Not sure if this was ever brought up before, but the Tamron Hall Show has significantly improved its lighting. 2025: warmer lighting, smooth hd 2024: washed out fluorescent lighting, grainy HD Tamron show always had a good set but this goes to show the power of how lightning and picture quality can improve the way a show looks.

  9. A few quick notes... CBS 2 is now using a bolder/wider font in the lower-third tab. I think it looks much better. Also, as the picture shows, Elijah Westbrook has been doing traffic lately. Guy Staniar, who was the regular traffic reporter but never appeared on-screen, has been out for at least the last four or five weeks. In the beginning, the usual off-camera fill-in, Anique Evans, was there. Then they had reporter Natale Duddridge do it a few times on camera, even at least one morning when she was also anchoring. (Natalie was the regular traffic anchor back when Alex Denis left, but then the station eventually dropped traffic for a bit.) Now it's been Elijah the last few weeks. I've heard them mention at least once or twice that he's "in for Guy" but it's been a while. Hope everything is OK. But I definitely prefer having the traffic anchor on camera. Also, now that Paramount/CBS are apparently about to be in a dispute with YouTube TV, they've been doing that ticker thing we've seen on other stations. (Does this show up only for YouTube TV users or does everyone see it?) They had a two-line version this morning but a slimmer one as of noon.

  10. Someone should give them some advice… The graphics for the headlines and the show title above it look like something a high school student who grew up in Fargo, North Dakota watching news on the cheap would make. WDIV doesn’t have these yet to my knowledge (haven’t looked lately) but it would fit right in with the rest of their ailing product. The buyouts last year were most unkind to them quality wise.

  11. KREM is running blue graphics and not the colored ones typically associated with each different day part. I watched the first few minutes of the 4 PM news and it was choppy; the 5 PM seemed much better. The studio is apparently undergoing a refresh, but there have been no visible changes. The couch has been moved to the standup area, the news desk has been moved to the couch area, and the big screen seems to only be for the weather. Shots are really tight and the main anchors always appear together on camera.

  12. As per FTVLive, KTTV is adding newscasts on KCOP at 8pm & 9pm. All of the Fox duopoly markets will be doing something similar in the next two years. KCAL will be challenged in their most famous timeslot.

  13. What is in question is the 5pm time slot. According to what was announced a while ago, CBS wants a solo anchor at 6pm and 11pm. I think the Jessica-Kristine duo is interesting, a female duo (only FOX5 has it).

  14. I heard KREM debuted their new "director-less" automation today. They have clips on their Youtube but they are without graphics.

  15. Not that this will matter that much, but WVEC in my hometown just switched over to the "Weather Impact" brand as of today. Video Credit: 13NewsNow via YouTube. P.S., I won't lie, I like the previous banner they had prior.

  24. Interesting to see Kristine Johnson anchoring a CBS News Special Report on the DC plane crash shortly after 10:34 last night. Then Dick Brennan did the local tease at around 10:58, but Kristine anchored the local news solo, with Dick reporting from the newsroom. (Jessica Moore was already in DC specifically to cover the RFK, Jr. nomination hearing, which turned into covering the federal funding freeze and reversal, which then became reporting on the crash.)

  33. The reason The King of Queens is leaving broadcast syndication is because Sony Pictures Television has cut a deal to bring it and Married… with Children to Cozi TV’s lineup. King will join the network’s prime time lineup (displacing Frasier in the 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET slot) on September 9, while Married… (following an eight-hour marathon two days before) joins the late afternoon schedule on August 5 (replacing Monk in the 4:00-6:00 p.m. ET slot).

  37. Well, probably all except for your friends at WNEP. They’ll fight to stay as StormTracker 16 till they close the doors on Montage Mountain. You’ll have to pry it and “MCTYW-esque” from their cold dead hands.

  38. This is part of a larger corporate mandate by Tegna. All Tegna stations (with the exceptions of their largest markets or those they deem as having "legacy branding") are required to start this initiative by mid-July. No exceptions. All weather branding will be [station] Weather Impact. Yes, it's a direct copy of Hearst, Sinclair, Gray, Nexstar...with "alert day" branding for impactful weather events. Why they decided this needed to be done now and so many years after competing companies is bizarre to me, but what consultants say to do is what gets done. That said, every station has their own say in what exactly constitutes a "weather impact alert day."

  39. When I saw “Weather Impact” on WUSA, I thought it was an original brand for them at first, but I saw it pop up on many other TEGNA stations.

  40. Weather Impact is also in use at KHOU and WUSA. This is the new Tegna standardized weather brand and all stations will eventually get it.

  42. Odd? Yes. But I will give them credit for trying to be original in a world of First Alerts, Weather Authorities, etc.

  43. Agree, sure beats the "C Clarity" music that feels less newsy IMO. Bit surprised KPNX didn't use the updated NBC Peacock logo with the white removed considering being in the Phoenix area, seeing promos they air feature the new Peacock alongside the 12News logo.

  47. The FCC has issued a $150,000 fine against WPIX owner Mission Broadcasting over the station's carriage dispute with Comcast, which filed a complaint against Mission concerning its de facto control by Nexstar and its involvement in carriage deals involving Mission shortly before the dispute was resolved in December 2022.

  48. We haven't seen a new petition in a while, but we have one. This time its a joint petition. Remember a couple of years back Gray's KCBD in Lubbock wanted to get off VHF 11 for UHF 36? Now, Gray wants to try a different approach. A three-station frequency swap. KCBD (11 > 35) KJTV (35 > 23) KLCW (23 > 11) In the petition, it states that KJTV's current tube transmitter is failing. And replacement parts are not available. Gray has already bought new equipment for KCBD and will use that for RF 35, instead of RF 36. KJTV would use the transmitter currently used by KLCW on RF 23. And KLCW would move to KCBD's current VHF transmitter on RF 11. Gray evaluated moving KLCW to RF 36, but it stated that buying equipment for both stations would be "financially infeasible in this smaller market".

  49. Nexstar appeared to have developed a cozy relationship with KUSI since they took LIV Golf in lieu of KFMB, and now it’s culminated in an outright sale and a future CW affiliation. As for KFMB’s agreement, I think both parties would pursue an early exit from that. I think this is going to go down in other markets as well. Nexstar and Tegna appear to be at odds over CW, stemming from the latter’s refusal to carry LIV.
