Hello everyone! Been a minute! Wanted to share some of our most recent episodes! Here is today's episode, which we had some breaking news about our superintendent: And the previous one: Hope you enjoy, all questions, comments, suggestions welcome as always!3 points

Someone should give them some advice… The graphics for the headlines and the show title above it look like something a high school student who grew up in Fargo, North Dakota watching news on the cheap would make. WDIV doesn’t have these yet to my knowledge (haven’t looked lately) but it would fit right in with the rest of their ailing product. The buyouts last year were most unkind to them quality wise.2 points

I agree. It’s a nice evolution of the diagrid graphics (even if the diagrid isn’t fully visible in the new ones), and they do fall in line with the teaser graphics that have been rolled out over the past few months.2 points

Oh didn't know that. Sorry I jumped the gun on that one. However, I do have this one. One longtimer at WOWT will replace another (already announced retirement) longtimer at WOWT. A very well deserving pick too... Brian Mastre. https://www.instagram.com/p/DGD7bCBzv3J/?igsh=NTRocHplZWl2cXFm1 point

This is already happening in a sense in NYC, where WWOR re-airs the 6pm newscast of sister WNYW. Guessing, based on the article that it will eventually be a live newscast1 point

Canada Ian Hanomansing will have a new gig to add to his CBC News portfolio. Coming live from CBUT/CBUFT Vancouver (his longtime CBC News home dating back to his Canada NOW days), Hanomansing Tonight will begin next Tuesday, February 18th on CBC News Network from 7-9 p.m. (4-6 p.m. PT). He will still do the great Cross Country Checkup program for CBC Radio One plus the Sunday edition of The National on CBC Television. https://broadcastdialogue.com/ian-hanomansing-to-host-new-daily-cbc-news-primetime-program/1 point

Top 10 markets for Super Bowl 59: WTXF, WDAF (obviously those two), WBFF, WRLH, WVBT, WXIX, WITI, WPGH, WVUE (host city), and WFLX. (via @FOXSportsPR on X)1 point

The article says they eventually want to do all news, all day and night for Fox O&O duopoly markets. DC is basically there, with only 4.5 hours of non-local content on WTTG between 4am and midnight, plus a live 8pm hour newscast on WDCA.1 point
-
It's ambiguous, just like when they started up the 8pm on WWOR. I hope you are right for both 8&9. Once launched we will know for sure.1 point
-
If I'm reading this correctly, they sound like they'll be live as this is L.A. after all.1 point
-
Will these be live broadcasts or a repeat of the 6 pm newscasts like Fox 5 is doing on WWOR (my9) in NYC at 8 pm?1 point

Dickerson is a good interviewer/storyteller, but isn’t particularly great when it comes to breaking news coverage. He appeared tense and twice stumbled over his words during the EN the day after the DC plane/helicopter collision. Plus, he tends to not pay attention to the person he’s talking to (often writing on his note pad instead). In some ways, he is over analytical. DuBois, overall, is the better of the two, imo. Not sure why CBS has been so enamored with Dickerson when they have/had other male anchors/correspondents who are just as good (if not better). I still say he must have some dirt on people…1 point

I actually like CBS' scorebar. My only issue with it is they went away from TT Norms which is odd given how married the rest of the company's presentation is to it. It also seems like they're slowly adding elements to the overall on screen look to match it.1 point

Aw, I will miss her. She always had a sense of grace when delivering the news. She always delivered the news in a calm way that was captivating will miss her dearly. So unfortunate that her home was also destroyed in the Eaton Fire, that must've been wild to report on a story that was directly affecting her. Godspeed to her in her future.1 point

I have a couple of fonts created by amateur typographers on DeviantArt based on the Fox logo; they don’t resemble the version introduced during the game, and seem more influenced by Gotham than Franklin Gothic.1 point

He was born and raised in Louisiana. February 5th was declared Bradshaw Day, but not for any farewell reasons. Jimmy Johnson, however, got a tribute segment during pregame, but that was more because he's not likely still going to be on the show when they have the big game again in 2029. His last massive viewership appearance.1 point
-
I apologize. I saw fhat there was a tribute for Bradshaw. I only saw part of the segment. It may have been for the event held earlier last week for him.1 point

It's almost like it's 1993 and Fox debuted these as a test before landing the NFL rights a year later. Because back then, it was basically text on the screen with the score coming in and out of break.1 point

I think Nexstar is finally reversing the trend. WFLA now has a Roku app and they stream live. KDVR has one as well and that's where you'll find KWGN's content as well. Nexstar has finally caught up to others but they still have ways to go. https://kdvr.com/plus/1 point

Not a fan of it. It's both large and also a bit hard to read the scores at times. Saw social media comments saying it looks unfinished and felt like an old PowerPoint presentation -- my thoughts exactly. For years, we were trending toward smaller graphics, perhaps adding more information but still everything getting smaller. Which is everything getting bigger these days?1 point
-
I'm wondering if this font will be used across Fox Sports (MLB, NASCAR, etc.) Wouldn't make sense to make a font based on your network's logo and not use it across your whole division.1 point

So far the studio graphics on the pre-game are brand new and do not appear to match up with these. In fact so far they may actually be an improvement, and may actually lend some credence to the theory this may be a decoy, some other test version that is not going to be used (though if they did that layout but with the trim/design of these graphics we're seeing...), or someone going a lot harder in trying to make fake leaks than usual. Now, of course, we've seen Fox basically "chicken out" on debuting graphics before (LI), but the last two games they have been consistent.1 point

That was probably because Fox had the Hell’s Kitchen season finale they had to air beforehand. The NFL Honors also rotates between the four Super Bowl broadcasters, with that year’s rightsholder to the game also airing the Honors (except in 2022 and 2023).1 point

Hearst stations usually have an app or weather promo with proper ID before the newscast intro so I'm not worried for the ID here and they'll probably adjust it quickly.1 point

And he just referenced it in passing at 4:30 because in this case, it was applicable to the snow moving through. Just not something they need to emphasize as hard as they did initially.1 point

Folks, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade we're told. So when an orange plume of chlorine filled the air causing school to be virtual for two weeks, hence we couldn't record in studio, make lemonade we did, in the form of a virtual episode! Despite not being together, every part of our team did an outstanding job on this episode! We still maintained a good sense of professionalism that we are known for despite the current situation and I do think it is one of our best ones! Hope you enjoy! https://lnkd.in/gQx87MND1 point

Hello everyone, Happy to bring you one of our most recent episodes of our newscast! This is episode two of the school year, and a HUGE improvement over the first! And here's pictures of our new set, not exactly the plans we had in mind, but I am very happy with it, hope you like it too!1 point

Early returns say that I hate it but I'll wait and see what it looks like on some of their bigger stations. I see someone tried to be cute and replicate the new peacock's design and animation and failed miserably. It really doesn't work when you try to shoehorn in the border that it wasn't designed for. Also it supposed to be misaligned with the 2 like that?1 point

Very likely, it's produced by KNBC considering the time it comes on after college football, similar to what we have here in Phoenix now apparently as KPNX has a new Saturday night sports show called 12 Sports Locker Room which actually starts tonight after the NASCAR race. Have a feeling in addition to being post-college football programming to keep sports fans tuned in afterwards, this also feels like a replacement for having lost the Cardinals broadcasting rights to KPHO/KTVK & hence the post-SNF programming as well alongside their Sunday night sports show 12 Sports Tonight.1 point
