  1. WABC sets have bled EWN blue since.. forever. There’s only one or two sets in the time span of EWN that were not heavily blue.

  2. A lil BTS screenshot from an ABC News report earlier today showing what appears to be the new newsroom the network will be working from, looks like shades out of FOX News with the revolving TV stand above.

  5. It seemed from her Instagram post that the change will be take place immediately. Personally, I'd like to see Kala Rama back as anchor in a permanent capacity. Vanessa is very good but Kala was always great in the early mornings with Craig. The only likely other option internally would be Katie Corrado or Grace Gomez.

  6. Not really … have you seen any of the sets and graphics packages WABC previously had?

  7. After almost 4 years, WOIO may be finally retiring the Raycom graphics package and the "19" is getting a major change. As seen during the 4pm newscast, here it is:

  8. WBBM is going to have a vacancy in their daytime lineup at 2pm starting next summer. Queen Latifah is not being renewed. Not really sure what they'll put there or anything yet.

  10. Meanwhile, Dr. Phil (reruns) is exiting broadcast syndie after this season. All eppys will be exclusive to Merit TV. It appears the said reruns will end on OWN as well. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/merit-tv-now-exclusive-home-to-all-21-seasons-of-dr-phil/

  11. Annabelle was hired to be on the 3 & 5pm newscast last year. Michael was supposed to anchor the 11am & 4pm newscast. Then Carolyn got sick & the station changed their anchor lineup. Robert is still with the station as a fill in anchor. I think the new lineup will be 11a & 3p - Annabelle 4 & 6pm - Robert & Carolyn - when she's able to come back full time 5 & 11pm - Colleen & Michael 7pm - Colleen or rotating anchors

  12. Not really, the west coast flagships have been getting the best recently.

  13. Ya know they had that logo since 2005, I do wish they change the red and white logo and leave “Eyewitness News” bare like its sister stations. As long as Byron Allen doesn’t get it lol.

  14. I mean with the upgrades in Philly, Raleigh, and NY maybe. But Nah, I believe this upgrade been in the works for a couple years, they had to redo the entire building. Here some stills of the new studio. That I captured.

  15. The current studio is pretty nice, especially once the screens were updated and the backdrops modernized. Weekend GMA will be coming from Times Square until June when all of GMA moves downtown.

  16. There are some screen shots on the sets and studios page, including a practice run for those that have not seen it.

  17. That'll likely remain as the streaming studio, once the overnight shows move out. Could totally see Nightline coming out of there, though.

  18. Something I realized reading this is that this is really kind of the first complete building in NYC built for television (at this scale at least.) ABC's current facility is a mishmash of buildings, including one over 100 years old and formerly used as a horse riding facility (similar to WBBM's old facility.) NBC is in old radio studios, CBS is in an old dairy, WNYW is in an old opera house. WPIX is in an office tower. ABC had no real constraints designing the studio spaces here. This is about as good as it can get in NYC.

  19. Fair points but my issue isn't sizes of sets, it's design concept. KTLA and WPIX are very similar, but there's subtle differences on the LA set that give it the edge. In the case of WABC, IMO set size wasn't an issue, it was bad design and poor lighting that cheapened its look.

  20. NYC studios are often constrained by space (especially height.) It's only been in the last decade with slimmer LED lights and video arrays that you could make smaller spaces feel grand and not cramped. KTLA vs WPIX - same set style but one is on a Hollywood sound stage and one is in an office tower in Manhattan.

  21. I posted on the Gray Media thread on WWAX, the Hartford home for carrying four Boston Red Sox spring training games this year. I just found out that it is in partnership with NESN (no surprise there) and that there are others too who will be carrying their games with the most surprising to me: Boston's WHDH. WHDH Boston (The sister to MY favorite, WSVN Miami) WYCI Burlington (WCAX's sister) WPXT Portland (WMTW's sister; only carrying two out of the four) Those in Bangor, Presque Isle, Springfield, and my third home market, Providence/New Bedford, are out of luck. No OTA coverage there but instead will have to watch via NESN or their OTT platform, NESN 360. https://nesn.com/2025/02/nesn-announces-2025-red-sox-spring-training-broadcast-schedule/

  22. A major shift for Telemundo in Columbia, S.C. The network has moved from WKTC 63.2 to... Gray's WTES-LD 16.1. This must've happened within the last couple of weeks, and WTES also carries WIS' Palmetto Sports and Entertainment Network on 16.2 in HD (WIS also carries it in SD on 10.4). Nominally licensed to Florence, S.C., it was a translator of WMBF for its first two years on the air starting in 2022 until it moved to the Columbia market and became a WIS translator for the last year before becoming the newest Telemundo affiliate.

  23. Have to respectfully disagree. IMO, None of the NYC stations look better than their O&O siblings. KCAL's set looks better than WCBS, WTTG's set tops WNYW, KNBC and KXAS's sets top WNBC, KTLA looks better than WPIX and KGO and KABC have always looked better than WABC. I know some of these could be considered West Coast flagships, but still, one would think Market 1 stations would get all the best stuff. What's in the pic apparently tops anything WABC has in 30+ years. The current best looking set in market is between WPIX and WCBS but this should surely rival that.

  25. After over two decades at WTVD, most of that anchoring mornings and with now-retired John Clark, Barbara Gibbs won't have to wake up as early as she has been. She's transitioning to their noon and 4:00 p.m. newscasts with Amber Rupinta. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGLNXqsKVIV/?igsh=MXZrZXQ2dW0xM215cA==

  33. Interesting to see Kristine Johnson anchoring a CBS News Special Report on the DC plane crash shortly after 10:34 last night. Then Dick Brennan did the local tease at around 10:58, but Kristine anchored the local news solo, with Dick reporting from the newsroom. (Jessica Moore was already in DC specifically to cover the RFK, Jr. nomination hearing, which turned into covering the federal funding freeze and reversal, which then became reporting on the crash.)

  34. It was great that they had a formal goodbye and tribute package for Maurice and I thought that was well done. I am a bit surprised by WCBS leaving viewers in the dark about a replacement, but perhaps they are waiting a few weeks out of respect for Maurice? On a separate note, I don't recall seeing Alice and Kristine anchor together all that often (like the rare combo of Dana and Kristine), so that is another interesting test pairing.

  35. I sorta saw Maurice departure coming. He was either gonna go to network at some point. As for Lonnie never thought he be part of the package deal but CBS is doing something different by adding a meteorologist to the picture as if there brining morning news to the evening news. It will be interesting. I can see Maurice advancing to solo anchor of the EN if John leaves it. I don’t see him coming back to WCBS after this opportunity.

  37. Is it known who will replace Jim on the 11am and 4pm news?

  38. Wanted to make sure I shared Jim Williams' Facebook post from only Tuesday, announcing that he's leaving and that his last day is TOMORROW (Thursday, January 16th). I hope he's alright - his post makes no mention of his health, rather that he's excited for the next chapter. But the rapid fire timing of this has me worried about him. Because I too have noticed his hand shaking, and also his voice sounds different at times. I will really miss him, a big loss to Channel 2... <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fjimwilliamscbs%2Fposts%2F10233713025183879&show_text=true&width=500" width="500" height="666" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" allow="autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share"></iframe>

  39. So Rosanna isn't even trying to hold up the guise of an objective journalist....not that she's good at hiding her opinions anyway. But from her days with Greg Kelly it was very obvious -- even though not explicitly stated -- that they were Trump supporters. Thats fine for FNC but not for the local broadcasts which already live in the shadow of the "Mother Ship's" bias.

  48. That WATN open uses two different versions of the ABC logo... when "ABC" is by itself, note the distance between the letters and the edge of the circle... Other than that, it really does look better than the version before it.
