That means they probably now operate KMYT as well. I have a feeling it will be "KOKI" soon, a.k.a., being seen on KTUL 8.2, have the newscasts merged, and operations will be gutted on both sides. Ugh. This is why Sinclair is pure evil. And no way in HELL will Sinclair will continue to maintain KOKI's current newscast schedule. Lots of cuts coming there too once operations merge if Sinclair is still dealing with financial issues (which I believe is BS though). Ugh.4 points

I think we're overthinking this here. WLS's is still abc7chicago.com despite having Eyewitness News. Just my two cents but I don't think websites need to change just because of switching to the Eyewitness News branding. They're still ABC 7's...4 points

Dispatch is the name of that track in the music package.4 points

And with all of this shuffling and consolidation, they still won't put a "local" newscast in St. Louis on KDNL ABC 30.2 points

It's bad enough that KTUL got decimated by Sinclair. It's downright appalling that it appears KOKI is going to be gutted as well. That basically leaves Griffin and Scripps to serve the market, and even Scripps is in a risky position as well. Sickening for a market of Tulsa's size.2 points

Wow ABC really wants the ABC 7 logo to be consistent in their top tier stations. The KGO switch was totally left field. I'm really going to miss the stations previous logos. It was those subtle differences that forged unique identities for them. There was a charm in that. Even back in the days when WLS' logo was awkwardly placed haha. I thought it was the most quirkiest. I guess they are adopting this practice from the other national networks, like CBS and NBC. Now I wonder, if WABC will modify their unique "Eyewitness News" wordmark to match the ones on the other stations in the west.. I'm glad KGO kept their version of the ABC O&O theme. I still think its wild that KABC switched to the WABC music Dispatch theme. Its not a fit for LA in my opinion. The theme feels out of place for that region.2 points

Where did you see that they are doing well in the ratings? The CBS press release only says the station is up 150%, well yeah, of course ratings are up switching from an independent station to a CBS station. That doesn't mean ratings are good. they are probably still dead last in the Atlanta market for local news ratings and CBS News programming probably has terrible ratings like it does in most of the country. I don't think any of the Atlanta stations have anything to worry about, the CBS News brand has become toxic. If CBS Atlanta was actually doing good in ratings, they would be saying so in the press release, if they were beating another station in a time slot it would be in the press release. There is zero mention of any local news ratings in the release, just that CBS programming rates 150% higher than extremely low rated programming the former UPN turned independent station used to air.2 points

I have the details on Tulsa. it confirms Rincon is just a sjnclair sidecar. As of today, Sinclair now operates KOKI, while Rincon retains the FCC license. Within three months, Sinclair will relocate KTUL’s operations to KOKI’s facility and merge them. KOKI’s GM has been fired and ND took a job with corporate. Lots of layoffs to come, particularly on the KTUL side. very sad.1 point

They're a new news department and I wonder how many Atlanta viewers actually know of the new news station in town. I almost expect them to be dead last.1 point
-
Honestly, I didn’t expect them to beat 2, 5, or 11. However, not beating WANF/WPCH despite WANF being indie has got to sting. WUPA has to ride out their syndication contracts before expanding, just like what WWJ/WKBD did.1 point
-
After some googling, it may be KOKH preparing to be "sold" to Sinclair. They were part of the Imagicomm sale to Rincon. Figures that there is funny business between Rincon and Sinclair. Don't be fooled by the new graphics in in Springfield and Quincy/Kirksville, Rincon may as well be a shadow company run by Sinclair itself despite any "divestitures"....1 point

You’ll know they’re in trouble when they launch the “fastest growing station!!” promos. No station that’s ever done that was ever in good place.1 point

Wikipedia still says Eyewitness News for the time being. However, the logos have now been replaced, and FOX 11 is now FOX Appalachia. DT1 and DT2, respectively:1 point

Ugh I hate these changes at least KGO didn’t switch to Dispatch aka WABC theme.1 point

Since Albuquerque is the only market with stations that serve the entire state, why not "Fox New Mexico"? It's a good coverall since it's the only Fox station in the state. But somebody thought they had a good idea and had to be cool and stuff...1 point

KNBC L.A.: 1984 News 4 LA promo w/remastered video, and stereo theme music (still a shame that didn't last as long in the City of Angels as News 4 New York did on WNBC in the Big Apple)1 point

I can't personally defend this branding decision. However, I have several friends/past coworkers who are from New Mexico - it is DEFINITELY one of those places where, for some reason, the originally assigned area code is part of what people use as part of the local identity. Even if they are from areas that were split off into the other area code a while back. I've never understood the area code as part of the local identity anywhere, but it definitely is a thing that exists in some communities and Nexstar must have felt it was strong enough there to work as a brand.1 point
-
I guess using the "Fox NM" brand (which they do own the domain to and goes to KRQE.com) was not considered, or they have someone who was nostalgic for the overlong local domain era pre-LIN making this decision. "Fox 505" just means nothing, is numerically confusing (so it's next to HBO on cable now?), and there was nothing wrong with the name "Fox New Mexico". Just branding for the sake of boredom.1 point

Speaking of Nexstar going to Nexstar... what was KRQE even thinking with this?! They just rebranded their FOX subchannel to this... This is not AI, this is a real rebrand. FOX New Mexico is now FOX 505 and in case you're wondering, 505 is the area code for two of the state's most populous cities... Albuquerque and Santa Fe, as well as for several cities nearby. This is pretty insulting to the rest of the state's residents, including Roswell (KBIM-TV 10.2), who use the 575 area code, but apparently, KRQE didn't think about that.1 point

I probably wasn't super clear with my last post - I think they put that memo out to staff with the mentality the inevitable screengrab leak of their version of events would be a feature, not a flaw. If they didn't want it out there, it is really easy for any company's IT admin to block screengrabs from the Outlook app and force people to only use that app for work email.1 point

In the future lawsuit WINK: "we communicated internally to protect staff..." Who are apparently getting harassed in DMs. It goes both ways Devitt chose to go online and lie he was blindsided, when in reality he wasn't. WINK warned him repeatedly going back to 2024, and coworkers reported him to HR. He could have gone to his page and said he decided a year ago not to renew, that he and WINK decided to separate 2 months early before his contract expired, and that he will have an exciting announcement soon. Now he's making it sound as if his FB page was taken by WINK, when it could be Meta disabling it because he was verified as a WINK News asset. I wonder if his agent dropped him, he's not behaving like someone who is being advised1 point
-
He Used company time, tried poaching employees while actively employed - meaning those he approached reported him to HR WINK will have to sign away their rights to whatever he was building. if he really did sign an acknowledgement letter, his agent/lawyer cleared it, anyone partaking with equity in the venture is fully exposed to litigation and more than likely doesn't own what they invested in And he keeps talking, after WINK took his Facebook page1 point

The fact the station put out an internal statement that anyone with a single brain cell knew would QUICKLY end up being screengrabbed and shared externally is wild. Just. Absolutely. Wild. From my experience, any post termination communication beyond "so and so is no longer an employee of station" with a possible "we wish them well in their future" second sentence used most likely in the case of a budget layoff is unheard of. I had GMs and NDs who thought even that written communication was too much potential legal exposure and only communicated abrupt employee departures verbally.1 point

Rabid fans, yes. People, the general public, no. All of these stations have had secondary brands for decades.1 point

It’s also an incredibly tired, dated brand. Would be insane to launch it in 2026. Fine for other markets for the sake of nostalgia I guess… but nostalgia does nothing for revenue. Would love to see it and “Action News” go away.1 point

I just saw the IG post from Entertainment Tonight about this. I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed because that's the only daytime talk show I actually watch. I wonder what the NBC O&Os will replace her with. 3pm news? Maybe there will be a replacement talk show, but I'd be kind of surprised. Weren't Michaela Pereira and Ken Jeong supposed to get talk shows? What happened to those?1 point

Makes me wonder what will become of WHBQ in Memphis. How long before Sinclair "takes them over" as well? At least they stand alone and do well. But there's probably some opportunity to cut and hub elsewhere... Not to mention putting on their legendary "TND" on wherever they can to save a buck (and spread more propaganda)...0 points
