Oof. Seems wrong lumping Jane in with that crew.

Jane's departure wasn't as strained as the others listed but it played out awkwardly due to the hype surrounding it.

Saturday Today has an updated background in their Washington studio (N5). It debuted today.

Their virtual background makes them look like they are on street level with a similar set up to studio 1A in NYC. It appears the NBC family of channels is investing a lot of money in virtual backgrounds (we see them on MSNBC Reports, several other MSNBC shows, and now on Saturday Today).

Pics attached show the previous and new background.

Well, it's true she was forced out to make room for "next year's model."  Luckilly NBC was able to give her some projects before Dateline NBC really took off.

I was surprised to see Savannah in the studio this morning.  I guessing she decided to come home for a couple days to see her kids (11 or 12 days a long time) and repack and get  'homework'  Queen state funeral next wee. .

Sunday Today being made from 1A. I wanted to know why NBC still insists on the virtual studio, not even compared when the same is done from a traditional studio.

Looks like Today is returning to some 2013 camera angles.

The mixed utilization of this angle and the window is cool rather than one way for the entire broadcast. Overall though the studio needs to be redone.

Can't believe it's going on 10 years since Today's reformatting! The set reversed course from an orange rebrand back to baby blue. IMO orange/gold hues with window frames, lamps, cityscape wallpaper and monitors looked better:

Watching the show this morning and Hoda is still out. Hopefully she is alright. Savannah and Sheinelle opened the show but at the 7:30 half hour Sheinelle said that Savannah had to leave so it was her and Al anchoring. Guess they didn’t have anyone else to fill in. Craig was out on the scene. covering the Alex Murdaugh trial. Update: Willie joined the show after she tested positive for COVID.

Hoda's back:

Wishing Hoda the best.

The set looks good when they utilize seasonal flowers/plants. The orange horizontal bars are a nice touch as well.

I was surprised to see Ann Curry included in a topical flashback from 2002!

Enough time has passed since the Curry ouster. That's still a hard moment to re-watch and they never regained that number one slot like they hoped.

If I recall correctly they avoided any Ann clips in their 70th anniverary celebration.
