It’s so interesting to me. Be they colleagues, friends or family, no matter what they’ve shared with me, or me with them, I will always respect without objection when they want to keep something private. I certainly would not presume that just because someone I watch on TV has talked about “X” that they have ceded any right to maintain privacy over “Y.” The “borders” can be wherever they need to be for each person and are free to move and change at any time.

That might be true, but if you see a story about one of these people you're familiar with, you're probably still going to click/watch, right?

If something is airing inside a show I’m already watching, that’s about it. Click on gossip? Pass.

I’m sure I’m annoying but I wish ABC would consider bringing GMA3 a live element. Most days the news “updates” they provide at the top of the show are hours old with new critical updates not included in the story. Today they’re rebroadcasting a show from November that included nearly two month old developments and updates on the Israel-Hamas conflict and wildfires out west. Not trying to be hyperbolic about it but it’s a sloppy product.

On one hand it's the holiday season so I assume it's because the main anchors are off but then again I assumed they would at least have fill ins to film new episodes

I assume the reason the show in general is pre-recorded is because of the limited time they have in the Times Square studio and hopefully with the move to the new studio it means that it will finally be live

GMA3 straddles the line between a news broadcast and a talk show.  Most of the other late morning / early afternoon talk shows also go on holiday hiatus, so it's not really much different.  It gives the production staff time off.

What would help is if they use their lower-thirds to identify who's anchoring on GMA as a substitute, or just a bare VO at the top. Their stage left substitute anchors vary between a number of interchangeable white men and the only way to know who they are is if the correspondent mentions their name during a toss; it's annoying to the viewer (I know WNT is always going to be "with David Muir" even if Elmo's anchoring). It's almost like ABC News doesn't want to identify anyone unless their contract specifies they must be or like Tory Johnson, makes money for them.

Maybe it’s a figment of my imagination, but it seems like I always hear so-and-so is joining us today, or some variation thereof, when someone is there. But that said, it also wouldn’t phase me if/when they don’t.

That is pretty bad for a news program. They should pretape these shows, have the on-duty anchor give a news update and fill the bulk with recycled and evergreen content.

All of this week's GMA3s have been either clip shows or single-topic programs, all prerecorded, which is totally okay. Good for them. It's a light week. But really, not updating the news update with TODAY'S headlines is just bad.

I’m of the opinion that they should just drop the “news” element from the show entirely if they won’t produce it live. It’s hard to tell the difference between live and prerecorded editions of the third hour of Today because their content isn’t largely based on real time current events.

Yikes! Blatant speculation ahead...Does this leave room for Sam Champion do national weather content (not the weekends Since Sam apparently works 4 days a week).

Ginger and Somara Theodore can handle 90% of what the network needs, with frequent calls to the affiliates for weekend fill-ins. They call up Sam to do a little weather & a little entertainment stuff, but there's zero need for him to return to the network, full-time. I like Sam, but he can't (won't) commit to 5 days a week at his current job, so why would anyone expect him to commit to a hard schedule at the top?

Frankly, if the network's 2 meteorologists (which Sam is not) were men, I don't think we'd have this constant conversation, pushing for Sam's return. Just saying.

I think it's more likely they have one of the GMA guys just do more of those than anything so they get more out in the field more. By the end the only thing Rob did was pointless live shots in front of the Tappan Zee that Ginger or any ABC news staffer in the New York metro could've easily done, and just shows that at that point it was just a countdown to when he was going to snap. Like Matt Gutman he's just an ego anchor (⚓️) dragging everyone else down and being known more as an HR headache than a reliable worker. I just can't see Sam willing to take on a higher workload when he's approaching his golden years.

Dr. Jennifer Ashton is departing from GMA3 (as co-host) and ABC News (as chief medical correspondent).

I haven't been following GMA3 as much as I did in the past but probably for the best; she was likely exhausted from last year's drama and the GMA3 health segments had been becoming fewer and fewer on their show (or getting into the paid placement territory that she knows are no-gos).

I don't really see gender as a factor in this.

If anyone is pushing for Sam's return, I would attribute that to his popularity, not because a "need" for a male meteorologist.

Is it just me or is GMA just a mediocre show now at best? Compared to Today and CBS Mornings, it's quality has gone down, including the weekend shows.

Good Morning America has been this way since the early 2010s, even worse after Sam Champion and Josh Elliott left in 2013/2014. It's become a mix of Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight.

Right now, I think GMA's hosts are less of the problem. GMA's story choice, tabloid sensationalized tone, and ADHD pacing are the issue for me

Watching a GMA broadcast from 1984 or 2004 versus 2024 feels significantly dumbed down.

Today has sucked since Meredith & Ann left but its news element tops GMA. CBS Mornings has its flaws but it's the most mature and news-oriented show among the three.

I don't often get to watch GMA, but around 6:50 AM every weekday, the anchors of Action News on WPVI chat with Robin/a GMA member with a preview of the day's show.  They often describe the most random things that will be on that day's show, and the anchors sometimes comment, "Wow!  All that in 2 hours?!"

GMA has gotten decisively worse each year for the last few years.

The first 15 minutes of the show are typically pretty good but today at 7:16 they did a report on a Taylor Swift concert in London. The show is dog sh*t these days.

Obviously, this is your opinion only, as most Americans prefer GMA as evidenced by the ratings.

Subjective statements ahead...

Ratings don't necessarily translate to quality. The PBS Newshour is a journalistically stronger show than World News Tonight but it has lesser ratings.

People might think GMA is a good show. They may also be watching it out of habit. People may have abandoned Today after the Ann Curry incident and never looked back. People could be unaware of CBS's Morning Show because the network has switched programs so frequently over the years.

Keep in mind, everyone is not as journalistically literate as the people on this website. Im calling 2024 GMA hot garbage because I've seen how superior the show was in the 70s to early 2000s. Regular viewers may not have that frame of reference.
