HanSolo 469 Posted March 21, 2025 Posted March 21, 2025 Not surprising. A rapidly changing reality at the macro and micro levels sometimes necessitates substantial changes. By no means unique to any company or industry, just the way life goes. 1
TheNewsTV 342 Posted March 21, 2025 Posted March 21, 2025 (edited) They could go back to Studio 57. CBS News 24/7 has been embracing VR/AR studios anyway.. Edited March 21, 2025 by TheNewsTV 1 1
Geoffrey 960 Posted March 21, 2025 Posted March 21, 2025 The Times Square location never made sense as they never took advantage of the location. The show could be broadcasting from a basement in Kansas for all we know. Might as well not waste money using expensive real estate if there's nothing to gain. 2 4

I really don't understand what the point was. It must be really annoying to work at CBS News with all the cost cutting and then see them spend money on stuff like moving "CBS Mornings" (what a dumb name) to Time Square with a set that looks like it could be a green screen. Honestly, all the networks have gotten really lazy with set design. The new trend seems to be make a fake digital set and then display it on a huge screen as a background. It will exist in some fashion, but the tv landscape is so big now, their influence has waned. All the comedies and dramas are cookie cutter and samey. So they will probably just produce sports and news soon. Lol. 2
Geoffrey 960 Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 Monday morning, Gayle King is scheduled to go into "space" on an eleven-minute joyride as part of a PR stunt for Jeff Bezos and his Blue Origin. CBS Mornings will have a special hour at 9 a.m. to cover "Gayle Goes To Space." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cbs-mornings-gayle-king-space-blue-origin-crew/ 1

Still better than the 2000s when they were still rocking the 1991 vintage graphics and the dark corner of the newsroom for them and Up to the Minute. For a morning newscast that had been stuck with 'last man up' at CBS O&Os during the pandemic, it's actually fine. 2 1

Interesting choice for the desk, it seems a little bulky, yet trying to be thin like the current and old CTM desks. Wonder where they made room for the green room as well, but I'll leave final judgement for Monday of course! Side note, I assume this means moving forward, election coverage will come 47. Considering it's basically a sound stage, CBS has an opportunity to basically be like South Korean stations and their election coverage, it's quite possible and I recommend anyone to do some research! 1
JRyan 694 Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 Honestly I wish CBS kept the old studio 57 set from the CBS This Morning era and just enhanced that. I never quite understood why they felt the need to overhaul that. This design isn't bad though. Not sure how I feel about the "semi-virtual" look as the backdrop. 3

Too heavy on the yellow. The large screen is attempting to give an illusion of depth, but it's more uncanny instead. The floors don't match, and why would there be such a large step up?

I agree that they should've probably stuck to the set below, and I wish they kept the 2012 graphics. On 9/29/2025 at 1:31 PM, TheNewsTV said: It was better to keep this here... 2
