Viper550 292 Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 About that "ASN is shutting down and giving its sports rights to Campus Insiders" rumor? Well, the part about Campus Insiders being involved is true, but it's not being shut down: ASN is being re-launched in partnership with the owner of said website. This may get interesting... 3

If this means what I think it means, then Nexstar and Fox need to step it up with their bids.

Sinclair has partnered with (the rotted remains of) MGM for quite a few things now. 2

tyrannical bastard 4055 Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 I would expect that Antenna TV and thisTV would be part of a Tribune sale to Sinclair....especially given the many stations that carry either network and Sinclair having other joint ventures with MGM to begin with... 1
padrechuck 25 Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Apparently, it's now official..... http://www.tvnewscheck.com/mobile/index/article/id/103905 1
GoldenShine9 1514 Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Antenna TV is on the local Tegna-owned station, which competes head to head with Sinclair in my market; it will be interesting to see if any affiliation switches for Antenna TV occur as a result. Sinclair is maxed out locally under ATSC 1.0 with its own diginets. Then again, since WGME is one of Sinclair's more rebellious stations, if they are forced to divest that may be one of the first to go anyway. 1
Weeters 1973 Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Please refrain from discussing the Tribune purchase here. There is already a dedicated thread for it. 6
Mrtraveler01 739 Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Someone else is bailing the S.S. WJLA. http://wjla.com/news/local/abc7s-chief-meteorologist-doug-hill-announces-plans-for-retirement
Viper550 292 Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 The All-New ASN is going to be called Stadium, apparently.

24994J 5660 Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 He's of retirement age? 4 years in the Air Force + 6 years as a cop + 39 years in broadcasting = Yes, he's of retirement age. 1

Mrtraveler01 739 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Sinclair obviously thinking that any publicity is good publicity, will consider this damning article to be a feather in their caps. Speaking of which, is KOMO dead last in the market? All I can find is this story about KIRO being #1 at 5pm and 11pm with KING not far behind at second. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/kiro-leads-the-5pm-newscast-for-first-time-in-a-decade/189292 http://www.radiodiscussions.com/showthread.php?701950-KIRO-1-in-Evening-News-Ratings-in-April So at the most, KOMO is 3rd. 2
ColtFromGulfcoast 738 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Let me guess, they're gonna load up on the DHX/Cookie Jar library crap? That'd actually be better than this Litton Entertainment/Steve Rotfield crap they have on now. At the very least, put some entertainment into the shows. The only Saturday morning show I like on any of the broadcast networks is CBS' The Inspectors. At least they're somewhat trying to be entertaining. I understand this is a different era but still. 2
mre29 1571 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 So at the most, KOMO is 3rd. Huh. I always figured KOMO was at least a strong 2nd, possibly even beating out KING in some time slots. 1
GoldenShine9 1514 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Huh. I always figured KOMO was at least a strong 2nd, possibly even beating out KING in some time slots. KIRO has leaped to #1 in the latest results.
oklahomanewsman 210 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Where does Oklahoma City stations rank in news ratings?
JCB4TV 352 Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Where does Oklahoma City stations rank in news ratings? Without looking at the numbers, my educated guess is that it's a three way race between KFOR, KOCO, and KWTV, not necessary in that order. At this time, neither of them are promoting themselves as the market leader. Regardless, of the ratings, I believe that Sinclair will have to divest either KOKH/KOCB or KFOR/KAUT.
Rusty Muck 4426 Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 KIRO has leaped to #1 in the latest results. That's what happens when a new McOwner takes over, slashes payroll, downgrades the on-air look and imposes opinion content that is totally out of touch with the market at large.

If you were running Sinclair and you had to make a decision to keep the lower rated KOKH or buy the higher rated KFOR which one should Sinclair do? Keep the lower rated KOKH and sell the higher rated KFOR or buy the higher rated KFOR and sell the lower rated KOKH? 1
AJClementeFan69 477 Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 KIRO has leaped to #1 in the latest results. No doubt has to do with Sinclair's tilt to the right on KOMO and Tegna's absolute gutting of KING's veteran talent. The Tegna buyouts were the epitome of penny wise and pound foolish. 1
mre29 1571 Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 So, how'd the stations rank before Sinclair bought Fisher and Tegna bought Belo?
