I don’t think it’ll happen, but I could certainly see him filling an analyst/contributor/commentator role. Charlie Gibson did that for ABC in 2016.

He's a network talent I don't know why they won't give him a network job. He be good at it he appears on CBS Sunday Morning almost several time a month, he's a frequent fill-in on the Evening News. I don't know why they won't give him an opportunity.

Where exactly would he go at the network? It’s not like they have an obvious open vacancy and he’s likely just fine in his current role.

Yeah true, we was doing the same at WNBC part-timing with the network also, I recognize there very few slot to gt into network. Getting to network news today is like getting into an Ivy League college. But I hear he makes a lot of money in his current role.

If he's solid in his position as lead co-anchor at their flagship station, I would assume they don't want to mess with his role.

Last night it was used at around the 11 minute mark of the broadcast. 
 

I actually like the look, this should be the main graphics IMO, I really like the deconstructed CBS eye on the right side, gives it a unique look.

I noticed that Adriana was anchoring the Saturday edition of the CBS Weekend News from DC yesterday and the previous Saturday as well. Anyone know if she’s now based in DC (instead of Chicago)?

I only recently noticed the move, too, but the move was actually made all the way back in September.

Among all the instability and criticisms of Paramount and the CBSEN, I just wanted to give the program props for finally improving it's aesthetic. After years of the outdated brownish looking sets, the current evening news setup is the best among the big three broadcasts. The Weekend news set looks great with a contrast of dark blue and white with the Cronkite style map. Dimmer lighting and warm colors can do wonders.

Similarly the Washington bureau set looks just as good, and the O&Os are getting some nice sets fashioned after KCAL. Steps in the right direction aesthetically.

Not just the CBSEN set but the Washington newsroom looks amazing too, especially when they show the various angles of it! Honestly, now that you say it, CBS does have the best look of the big three as far as the main newscasts' go, having great graphics and a great set, not only that but using that set with many shots. WNT does not even use it's set, simply using that one OTS shot the entire time and the graphics are outdated. NN has alright graphics, not the best but better than WNT but 1A brings it down.

I'm actually not a huge fan of how Studio 47 looks these days. Outside of the Cronkite-styled map, the whole backdrop looks pretty dark and cluttered most of the time. The anchor desk feels too informal, and the lone monitor standup shot looks cramped. The space doesn't have that commanding feel that the Rather and Couric era sets had. Maybe that's by design, but I think they could do better.

I agree that CBS has the best evening set of the three, but I'd say the previous morning studio at the Broadcast Center looked better. 

 

Back on topic, the area CBS still lacks aesthetically is graphics (across the board). If that improves, Evenings News will hands down be the best looking of the three broadcasts.

I think what would help is if those monitors in 47 would be on during the newscast, displaying various graphics, creating sort of a control room like look.

No doubt whatever they do will be on the cheap. I think CBS News at the national and local level have given up on trying to compete. The strategy is to make money in third place.

Rotating anchors could be interesting, and CBS certainly has a deep bench of folks who’d fit in that role.  I assume they’ll try and get Gayle King to start the rotation…
