Adriana Diaz won't have to worry about doing two shows throughout the week. Her cross-country partner Jerica Duncan will anchor both nights of the Weekend News.

Jerica does a great job, and Weekend News is a nice change of pace from ABC and NBC.

With the sports on CBS, Weekend News is often pre-empted anyways.

Interestingly Norah  is the only evening news anchor not in Florida covering Milton.

Don't blame her though. If I was on my way out I wouldn't do it.

Her leaving shouldn't prevent her from going to FL. The news doesn't stop, if you will. It's possible there's another reason.

This event, and the VP debate pre/post-coverage, would have been an excellent opportunity to use both Maurice and John more. Not saying that Norah should be pushed to the side, but Maurice could have been on the ground in FL co-anchoring coverage and both him and John could have lead coverage on CBS News 24/7.

Also, Rob Marciano (formally of ABC News/GMA) made his first appearance yesterday during CBS Evening News. ABC cut ties with him in April.

To rephrase... If I was being pushed out (as it seems) I wouldn't volunteer to be in the middle of a hurricane.

But perfect point that events like the VP debate and this hurricane coverage would be waste to ease viewers into getting used to Maurice and John.

John Dickerson said goodbye to "The Daily Report" on CBS 24/7 yesterday. As expected, he will be preparing for the CBS Evening News. I don't understand how they said he would be doing both anchor roles. (The Daily Report and the CBS Evening News).

I noticed that Dick Brennan is doing the 5pm news on WCBS and he doesn't say he's filling in for Maurice like he normally does.

Let's just take a moment to celebrate how far CBS has come aesthetically. That newsroom looks great and I love the brown accents on the graphics package. It reminds me of Katie Couric era CBS Evening News. I would argue CBS News now has the best sets of big 3 broadcast networks.

I don't recall WCBS or CBS making a formal on air announcement of John and Maurice taking over CBSEN. The OG press release also described Margaret Brennan as leading the political coverage whenever news breaks. I'm curious to see how this dynamic will play.

Interesting he said "Even when I join the evening news team, I'll be in this actual studio for a while", does that mean that CBS is planning on using 57 at first once the relocation to NYC happens, then give John and Maurice a new set?

Although it could be just tonight's circumstance, Maurice did appear with Kristine tonight at 11pm. The most logical sense would be Kristine/Dick at 5pm and Maurice/Kristine 11pm, but who knows with their apparent solo anchor push. I also don't recall any mention on WCBS about the promotions of Maurice and Lonnie.

I also noticed Lonnie using the "virtual weather studio" a lot more the last few weeks.

Realistically, John couldn't really devote his time to both Evening News and Daily Report. That said,  I don't understand the vagueness concerning the move to Evening News. Simply saying you're joining the evening news team could mean anything. I could be wrong, but it feels like a lot of mix messaging going on.

That's the impression I got also...the move to 57 is temporary. But if I'm being honest, is there really a need for a new set?  With some small adjustments, 57 would work out fine, imo.

New set? That ain't a new set, that's the same set! 47 was used for the weekend News mainly so now they are just using 57. Maybe this is to help prepare for the move to NYC for weekdays?

So with the Weekend News moving to 57, do we foresee renovations to 47 to eventually bring the Evening News back to its longtime home?

Well, previously The Daily Report started its headlines from studio 47 and today they started from 57. Probably the CBS Evening News will return to 47. I had some expectation that they would do the CBS Evening News from studio 1515, like they do for election coverage.

WVBS posted a tweet about it in the day of the announcement, and Maurice posted it in his own instagram.

Copy. It feels weird, the distinct lack of publicity about this. It's almost as if CBS is embarrassed to be retooling its evening show yet again.

It's also embarrassing that they have a rotating door of anchors.

Katie Couric

Scott Pelly

Jeff Glor

Norah O'Donnell

and now we got the latest of the bunch, good luck to them.

Norah handling the inauguration before bowing out is classy on CBS’s part
