A3N 1002
Omana... I bet know who Sully's source is... (hint) They used to do a morning show together on 1700am in 2004...2005... Hmmm, I'm drawing a blank. Oh, and it crossed my mind that KUSI/McKinnon could be leaking info on the sale since he probably was rebuffed by the Kimmels. Would make some sense as to why he's taking such an interest in reporting the news, don't you think? And Sully is full of shit if he thinks that Kimmel is going to get close to $200 million for the three properties. If McGraw-Hill could only fetch $200+ million for several of their stations, I doubt KFMB could fetch close to that. I do think she'll get over $100 million, though. And Hacksaw Hamilton reported on Twitter that he's heard talk of format change(s) for the radio stations. FWIW. KUSI would love nothing more then to get the City and County of San Diego's leaders all spun up about outside ownership. KUSI will assume the role of Shit Disturbers for this operation. This was a perfectly quiet operation underway until for some silly reason KFMB pulled the fire alarm. KFMB is privately owned....so are a few of the supposed suitors... Why the announcement that KFMB is suddenly on the MLS? KFMB knows exactly which dogs are interested...and who's just sniffing butt. All the lawyers should be on a first name basis by now. I am a firm believer that the Chargers are not a dead issue in San Diego. They are already looking for reasons to bug-out of LA...and the league knows there is a giant problem with the LA franchises. That is a giant toe still on the scale. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16023-kfmb-tv-am-fm-for-sale/page/5/#findComment-187979 Share on other sites

The city and county can't agree on shit so I'm not holding out hope on the chargers, although your point is very valid. That being said, what's KUSI's end game? If they're friendly with Kimmel, then are they leaking info to drive up the price of the station or are they some disgruntled suitor that lost out on the station? Either way, they're going to enforce and reinforce the fact that they are the only locally owned television station in the market. So with very little investment in the product they can get some nice returns. That's how you really do things on the cheap and get away with it. Remember... what is the giant time bomb awaiting any purchaser of KFMB ??? (Hint) Does KFMB really need Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher holding a news conference on Engineer Rd....with a bunch of disgruntled KFMB former (or future former) employees.... Those folks could get the City and County leaders pretty spun-up. (Diane Jacobs ugly mug comes to mind)... KUSI scored a little victory last year during the FAA re-route of the airport departure path....Steve Cohen is itching for another local issue to run with. Guess who lives directly under that path??? I digress... (is this too inside baseball?) Make no mistake... The announcement by KFMB was a warning to the employees that the "sweetheart deal" that was in the works...had broken down. There is still a 3000lb elephant sitting at KFMB just waiting to take a giant dump on the future buyer. KFMB is pretty much announcing to everyone that they are re-evaluating the previous "offer". None of this was ever meant to become public fodder IMHO. A nice quiet sale was in the works... What changed? What would AM 760 switch to? Country polka rap? Gregorian chants? Broker it out to Chinese or Vietnamese programming? Somehow I’m not sure KBEX is interested in leasing an Ancient Modulation signal. But I could be wrong. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16023-kfmb-tv-am-fm-for-sale/page/5/#findComment-188038 Share on other sites

Somehow I’m not sure KBEX is interested in leasing an Ancient Modulation signal. But I could be wrong. Sports is out of the picture since there's two stations in town and they can barely keep it going. 760 could flip to more news and less talk which would save them money. I'm inclined to say that the FM station is most likely switch formats. Depends on how much they have to pay for music licensing/royalties and the $$ returns. rkolsen 1684
Also, pay close attention to the L3's and you will see they made a mistake. That’s quite a big mistake unless the “likely buyer” wants to yank the CBS affiliation all together and switch formats. But that wouldn’t draw said “likely buyer” any favorability and just bad press. CalItalian2 163
Bonneville and EMF are the top suitors for the radio stations. Bonneville is reentering California on Nov. 17 with an LMA for multiple CBS and Entercom required spin offs in San Francisco and Sacramento. NEOMatrix 1299
Isn't Bonneville still run by the Mormons? Bonneville is run as a for-profit arm of the Mormon church. KSL AM/TV is run directly by the Deseret News, not Bonneville. Effectively different branches of the same company, though. KBLX is an Urban AC formatted station. Makes me wonder what kind of censorship on the playlist they will revamp here in SF. No more Prince - Do and baby lol It’s not just KBLX - what is Bonneville going to do with KMVQ-FM, a LGTBQ-oriented CHR that CBS just handed them? It’s telling that Bonneville agreed to lease all three stations for a year before the option to purchase kicks in. Almost sounds like few buyers were actually available. All I know is when Bonneville took over the Los Angeles Market, Radio One KKBT (100.3 The Beat) [urban] then KRBV (v100 LA’s Best Variety in R&B / The R&B Station) [urban AC] they literally flipped it to The Sound (AAA) and many listeners were upset. At least KHHT and KTWV were able to fill in the Void. Up here KISQ flipped from Rhythmic AC to Soft AC. Makes me wonder where will KBLX listeners will go. Wonder if the sale had anything to do with Dan bolting or if it was in the works before. Either way, the other stations in town are rejoicing since now they have a chance at overthrowing KFMB from the top spot in the morning. I just hope they go outside to hire Dan's replacement. There's literally no qualified male reporters/anchors to be promoted from within. Dominic Garcia would have been a great replacement. Dan and Nichelle were the couple to beat for sure, I would have totally seen them go on for many more years. He must have been given a great opportunity to join KTTV. CBS 8 is going on hard times. The sale, losing Chargers as a local team, the imperfections of The CW San Diego, and now this, yikes. Samantha 2895
Sales in and of themselves create turmoil, turnover and low morale. Especially given that KFMB has known no other owner and thus might be a bit fatter than its industry peers, that's an issue.
