LOWERCASE GUY 283 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 It looks like WESH has an updated version of the Hearst Graphics. I wonder how long this will take to roll out to the rest of the stations.
24994J 5630 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Damn, that's so much better. Everything finally has space to breathe.
Georgie56 3326 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 The L3s with the white tags remind me of the NBC O&O look.
caliwxdude 254 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Finally taking advantage of the full 16:9 screen real estate. I wouldn't be surprised to see this rolled out to Hearst NBC affiliates in time for the Winter Games over the next few weeks.
MikePulse 319 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 As an Orlando resident, I love that WESH is mostly the guinea pig sometimes for the group. That said, FINALLY, a slick update.
WestleyWolf 122 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Finally taking advantage of the full 16:9 screen real estate. I wouldn't be surprised to see this rolled out to Hearst NBC affiliates in time for the Winter Games over the next few weeks. And Super Bowl LII.
susquvalleywgal 521 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Very nice update. Cannot wait for WGAL to bring these bad boy gfx in. — Matt
Action Newsroom 1300 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Now that is an update worthy of the name. So sharp and bold, yet clear and well-made. I can actually see the elements breathing. Can't wait for the roll-out. Great job, all involved.
jbnews 345 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 FIRST THOUGHTS: I like the look. I have to see more of it, but the graphics are nice. As for the music? OH. MY. GOD. In the Groove (I think) does it again. WOW. Anyone have any details?
newsanchor26 107 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 The current Hearst package is one of the most well aging graphics packages I've seen. Nearly six years later, and other than being in 4:3 aspect ratio, it still competes well with packages debuted within the last year by other station groups. This new package also looks very nice, and it's good to see they're keeping the signature Hearst triangles.
Weeters 1969 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Knew it would be an update and that they wouldn't ditch the "diagrid". That look is here to stay. That said, this is 100x better than the garbage they were using. Can't wait to see this rolled out to the rest of the group.

ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 A fantastic update to an already fantastic package. Very glad to see them using 16:9 to its potential...not to mention the fresh Strive cuts.
CaptainNews 287 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Here’s the first 3 minutes of the package.
JCB4TV 351 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 A fantastic update to an already fantastic package. Very glad to see them using 16:9 to its potential...not to mention the fresh Strive cuts. I'm in Oklahoma, and will keep an eye on KOCO.
jbnews 345 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 A fantastic update to an already fantastic package. Very glad to see them using 16:9 to its potential...not to mention the fresh Strive cuts. Is this music just an update to the existing package, or a totally new package?
Samantha 2902 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Mmm...so good. Makes me wish Hearst had come out here at some point.
WestleyWolf 122 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 I know KCRA is Definitely getting this eventually..
rkolsen 1686 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Well this explains why WBAL has been using lighter colored elements lately.
Jess 1116 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Is this music just an update to the existing package, or a totally new package? I'm not sure. I know DreamArtists did some updates for WCVB a couple years ago, and this sounds a bit like DreamArtists to me (the heavy percussion is one of their trademarks).
MidwestTV 1247 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Amazing what not having a gigantic rhombus of a bug can do for spacing. That said, the traditional sentence case type seems a bit small, especially with that story tag to the immediate left of the bug being so huge
rkolsen 1686 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 I will have to see it in action. I thought when the diagrid debuted it was slick and ahead of its time.
rkolsen 1686 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 They’ve been using a similar lower third design for atleast six months for their Facebook live streams. Anyone know what the ticker looks like?
MyNewsArchive 197 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 I will keep my eye on WISN in Milwaukee, can't wait until they get the new graphics, and hopefully a new set.
