ScottSchell 423 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Carly Smith has been named Chief Meteorologist at KIII replacing Alan Holt who recently left for sister station News Center Maine.

Granted, times have changed since then, but I think WLII is capable of it, just like the 10,000-ton gorilla that is WAPA. Not exactly the same as WAPA has sports on top of their local programming. It's gonna be a bigger mountain to climb since they'll be competing against that AND WSTE and WKAQ and the NY english locals.
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Outside of a year-long hiatus to anchor mornings at WKYC Cleveland back in 2008, Abby Ham has been at WBIR-TV Knoxville since 2006. What an impact Abby has made to mornings in East Tennessee which is hard to hear that today, she's announcing that she's leaving WBIR again and sounds like for good after an amazing 20-year run. Her final day is January 16th. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1413583643455358&id=100044112082475
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Only spent two years at "WLNE" but this week is Kristina Shalhoup's last. It looks like the last of the consolidation on the weather side between it and WJAR is about to be complete. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1242958934316103&id=100058060239887 1
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 It looks like WISH-TV has cancelled All Indiana at 4pm after a few years plus the two Focus shows they had at 3 and 3:30pm. Instead, as of yesterday, its another edition of Life.Style.Live! at 3pm (NEW too) followed by the new hour-long News 8 at 4:00. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1467118608753144&id=100063650557055
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 After 40+ years at WSVN 7 and the last 27 doing Help Me Howard, Patrick Fraiser has officially retired, but the franchise will continue with Brandon Beyer taking over with Broward County public defender Howard Finkelstein. https://wsvn.com/news/help-me-howard/help-me-howard-final-episode-for/ 2

He was THE face of "WLNE", especially within the last decade or so. First Kelly, and now John. Sinclair is EVIL, no matter what anyone else says. This is just one step closer to full simulcast consolidation with WJAR.
tyrannical bastard 4678 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) While some newspapers are dying, a surviving one that used to be tied to a Columbus TV station is announcing a new partnership with a former rival. https://www.nbc4i.com/local-4-you/nbc4-columbus-dispatch-agreement/ Interesting in that the Dispatch properties in Columbus are now owned by Tegna (WBNS) and Gannett/USA Today (Columbus Dispatch) in what used to be the same company. But both 10TV and The Dispatch are shells of their former selves. Edited January 8 by tyrannical bastard 1

This wasnt a surprise. He anchored an unwatchable newscast (not his fault), that was in last place forever. It should have been shut down years ago. WLNE put on one of the worst newscasts anywhere. I know.. not their fault. 3 1

ScottSchell 423 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Wanted to bring up a couple of changes in OKC market. Pilot Mason Dunn no longer at KFOR he’s back at KWTV flying SkyNews 9, Shelby Love left KOKH and is also at KWTV where she will be an anchor/ reporter, and the last is Tevis Hillis left KWTV and from I have found is now the press secretary for Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt.

I know.. not their fault. I get it. Its not his fault WLNE's news were unwatchable. But in all honestly, he was the last recognizable face of the station. All credibility for that station has been gone already, but whatever was left... Just left the building today. And I'm sorry, but I had to say it that way. I've watched him for years. He was committed to the station, even if it was in last place. He is absolutely fantastic and this doesn't sound like it was his choice to leave... it sounds like Sinclair forced him out so they can get closer to consolidating the news on both stations. I really do hope WJAR (main channel) or WPRI brings him along, unless he has decided to retire as a result. 1 1

Its KGW's Drew Carney on the Sunrise show. Next Friday is his last before he's off to do mornings with Corey Rose at 9 KUSA in Denver. 25 years in Portland and 19 of them at KGW. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSNiS4piaXS/?igsh=MTJvc255Y2FwdWU3MA== As for the previous anchor, Jordan Chavez said goodbye today to pursue a career outside of tv news: In addition, Erica Lopez also recently left KUSA mornings to report on traffic for sister station WFAA:
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 In tie with John DeLuca's departure, it looks like this is the new logo for "WLNE" and say goodbye to "ABC 6" (WJAR 10.2). Its "Coastal ABC" now. They have quickly changed their social media presence to include the new logo. 1

Reminds me of Sinclair’s KAEF in Eureka that once ran local news under the “North Coast News” brand.
MediaZone4K 2664 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) WFTV morning anchor Kristin Delgao outlined her reasons for leaving the news industry on Linkedin. Like so many in news, that dreaded 2 AM alarm was a major factor. Edited January 10 by MediaZone4K 2
tyrannical bastard 4678 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) Once the remaining talent leaves WPMI....er WEAR 3.2 "NBC 15", they'll probably fully integrate into WEAR in Pensacola similar to WLNE. Kelly Foster, longtime meteorologist/anchor/reporter quietly left the station earlier this week. That leaves Darwin Singleton (who is rumored to be leaving this coming year), Andrea Ramey and chief Meteorologist Thomas Geboy working for "NBC 15". And then there were three.....(seems like a good time to rebrand to NBC 3....right?) Edited January 10 by tyrannical bastard
MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 1158 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Chief Meteorologist Matt Devitt from WINK has been let go from the station. His bio has been scrubbed from their website as well. 1
FiveNews 482 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) Pretty cool to see that the historically stodgy WRAL is evolving. Chad Ochocinco Johnson accidentally on purpose mispronounced the city name Raleigh. It created a social media firestorm and WRAL got on the bandwagon. Genius grassroots marketing. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTVINifjjf-/ Edited January 11 by FiveNews

DENDude 259 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I wonder if this could be part of a plan for after the potential close of the WFTX deal? Maybe WINK will use WFTX's chief instead. However none of the scripps (4) deals have closed yet. (WFTX-SALE, KOAA/KKCO/KJCT SWAP, WRTV-SALE)
