Encore 323 79 Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 If you listen closely, the music sounds strong at points but is still the same generic track that is being used at WFTS/WEWS and it makes this legacy station so pathetic compared to Local 4, FOX 2, and even CBS Detroit, the station that has the newest full time news operation in Metro Detroit. Part of me wishes that the station was still an ABC O&O but that is not how reality occurred nearly 40 years ago. WXYZ is making the package stand out in other ways by putting “In Your Community” last in the “Your Voices, Your Stories” tagline and making the text bigger in teasers going into newscasts and going into commercial breaks during said newscasts. They did not bother to change the cut even for the 10 and 11pm shows, but oh well. We will see first thing tomorrow morning if they use the same generic morning cut that WFTS and WEWS use or something else to not feel repetitive.

They’ve had the same one for 7 years now. Like Local 4’s opening and CBS News Detroit has a much better opening, especially with the new Getting Answers slogan. WXYZ’s opening is ok. TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 WGBA Green Bay said hello earlier today at 5pm.
Encore 323 79 Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 WGBA’s rollout happens to be exactly two weeks after the WXYZ rollout and the first non-ABC station to receive it. This means that the rollout process of these graphics is slowly speeding up as the resources become more widespread.

ScottSchell 423 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 (edited) KJRH has been running promos with the new graphics but as of now the newscasts remain on the old graphics. Sorry I didn’t get the whole promo by the time I saw it this was all I could get at the time. IMG_0088.mov Edited February 10 by ScottSchell

I assume they probably calibrated it to make their default background image look good, and that doesn't translate well to video. 1
MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 1158 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 WFLX supposedly debuted back on January 21 1
TVLurker 389 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I can't take that open seriously, I don't know how to say it but it's... offensively bland. 4

So are TEGNA's new graphics. But they are super super cheap. We'll eventually get to power point slides, when all creative departments are laid off. 2
alaskanews 159 Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Unsurprising, but the best station in the Scripps portfolio has the best implementation of these graphics so far. However, that voiceover sounds like AI. It's very stale. 17 hours ago, Georgie56 said: And now WTVF.

MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 1158 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 I was browsing on KNXV's website this evening and stumbled upon this image... In Your Community banner in the new graphics package. One could shrug it off, but that's the Phoenix skyline in the background. Makes me wonder if they're next in line. This is a recent addition, as this was a very recent change.
Encore 323 79 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 It will be nice to see this new graphics package make its way west of the Mississippi soon, so hopefully ABC 15 will be next as we get into March as we see by that new “In Your Community” banner.
kcnewsjunky 16 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 I’m hopeful on KSHB too. All of their on air promo commercials are in the format / music of the new graphics. Hell even their in-newscast displays give me the vibe of the new look… but we continue to wait 2

Like I said before here, it'd be funny if Phoenix got the Scripps update before Arizona's Family (KPHO/KTVK) got GrayOne being one of the lone markets left, & a big one at that, to not have it, as well it's sister CBS station KOLD downstate in Tucson having it. 1

Consistently the market leader for ratings (I'm not sure if it's still every single newscast, but historically it's been a clean sweep) and a cash cow for Scripps. Their investigative team consistently wins Peabody awards. When I worked there it was one of the stations CBS trusted to let local reporters do national live shots. Even with the Scripps influence and the overall decline of the industry, it's still one of the best stations out there. And for this specific use case: A high-quality in-house creative services team.
