Flying across the country that frequently is tough on anyone, it's no surprise that he's leaving. It's surprising that Steve Lacy is still an anchor and was it booted along with Dari Alexander I'd still like to know what happened to Dari Alexander. 1

MisterBill 128 Posted December 20, 2025 Posted December 20, 2025 (edited) Yesterday was Curt Menafee's last day at GDNY. Apparently, his wife was still living elsewhere and he was commuting weekly. https://www.fox5ny.com/news/curt-menefee-saying-goodbye-good-day-new-york Edited December 20, 2025 by MisterBill
TheNewsTV 342 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Yesterday there was a special edition of Good Day NY. Do they plan to have a similar edition in the future? FOX5 is the only channel without a morning news program on weekends. 1
NYNewsCoverage 337 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 I know WNYW already does special weekend morning updates which (I think) air on TV in addition to streaming, although I could be mistaken. It's normally just 1 anchor who reads all the stories and does weather. At this point I think they should just air a full news program. Their morning block on weekends is Xploration and paid programming

I saw them do snow coverage with Lisa Evers on the weekend. they don't have a "Good Day Weekend" listed for this Saturday or Sunday though. "The 6 o'clock News" has expanded to a full hour. Jerry being there for talk show testing is no issue. Rosanna needs someone to match her energy -- though Jerry can be over animated at times. If they extended the idea to making Jerry --a comedian-- the main co anchor of Good Day, that would be iffy for the program's credibility as a newscast. At least in Curt was a sports journalist who had previously worked at Fox 5. Edited February 20 by MediaZone4K
RealNews18 271 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Yeahhh I don’t know about this. The 9am hour is fine but the 7 and 8 spot should go to Dan. I get being a little lighter and laid back in the morning but when something big happens you need a serious face. 1
FiveNews 481 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 If they move forward with it, sounds like shades of FOX After Breakfast.
AA55 41 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Will be interesting to see him on Monday anchoring coverage of a potentially severe blizzard.

With a major storm (12+ inches) now predicted through Monday morning and early afternoon, he may not even be at the WNYW studios, as the station will be in storm mess duty. I would expect his debut will be on Tuesday, assuming he is already in town. 1
TVNewsLover 861 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Didn’t he test for a talk show a few years ago? Wasn’t he a part of The Talk when it was cancelled? He has a pattern of failed talk shows and this clearly has FAILURE written all over it. They need to find someone who can balance news and entertainment to pair with Rosanna and do a test run for a national show with. 1

Every one is a news anchor now I see I’m in college I’m having second thoughts about entering this really unattractive business. Maybe I could start my own platform that’s the future anyways. I’ve also thought about meteorology FOX5 literally has a weather presenter with no meteorological training doing there weather and is 29 years old, I think you know who I’m talking about and I’m mixed about her. I prefer to get a degree, not get a job because of looks. And this is market #1 we’re talking about god I hate New York, I could go on a full on rant about the nations 2 largest cities both of them… I’ll just keep it too myself. You are correct, Jerry along with Nick Cannon and Sherri Shepherd all had had shows that spawned from Wendy Williams. Sherri was the most successful one. Again, seems like Good Day is struggling to find a coanchor for the last 9 years since Greg left. Curt was good. Who else at this point? I would say Mike Woods, but he gets awkward and stuttering when he does non-Weather segments. Edited February 24 by MediaZone4K
NowBergen 924 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I watched for 5 minutes. That was about all I could take. O'Connell seemed way out of his element covering a hard news regional crisis. He actually seemed gobsmacked after the Gov. Sherrill interview. Luckily other network stations only carried the first half hour of the network morning shows before cutting back to local coverage.

RealNews18 271 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Slim chance but it would be cool to see Craig Treadway get picked up.. I still think it should go to Dan Bowens. Just my opinion. Move Dane with Rosanna and put Craig on early 1

Considering FOX picked up Lori Stokes and Sukanya Krishnan, it's not improbable. 1
MediaZone4K 2662 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Rare sight! Tina Cervasio anchoring alongside Dan in the absence of Rosanna and presumably Tashanea Whitlow aswell
TheNewsTV 342 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 She's been here before. This week we had Natasha Verma on GDNY.
