Glimmer 340 Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 Eva Pilgrim leaving ABC News to become the new anchor of Inside Edition 1
tvnewsbystander 5 Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 10 minutes ago, Glimmer said: Eva Pilgrim leaving ABC News to become the new anchor of Inside Edition It totally makes sense now, it's been odd that they've been going about with GMA3 at the new studio without mentioning anything about Eva or Demarco. If you don't keep track of what's been reported on the New York Post, you think they were simply erased from the third hour altogether. My commentary on Demarco and Eva, they had tough shoes to fill replacing Amy and TJ, who had crazy electric chemistry, which made for good television. Looks like ABC News is going with a panel format for that hour (which is a much more flexible, safer alternative), or is just keeping the hour warm until they get a big talent to host the slot. 2
Georgie56 3661 Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 ESPN’ers Joe Buck & Malika Andrews will co-host GMA later this month. 1 1
HanSolo 468 Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 Good for her. I remember her locally for her stop at WPVI and always thought she was good at ABC. With the flux in the current GMA lineup this is probably a more visible and steady gig. I don’t care for the show, but respect her choice. 1
nathannah 2792 Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 Hopefully the show is restructured around her, because IE has needed a solid refresh for over a decade. 1

carolinanews4 455 Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 And now the other shoe has dropped. Demarco is departing GMA3 and ABC News altogether. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/demarco-morgan-exits-gma3-abc-news-1236308249/ 2 1
Action Newsroom 1376 Posted July 7, 2025 Author Posted July 7, 2025 At this point, if it weren't for Live and The View being #1 in their respective ratings, the network might as well move to officially make GMA a full three-hour show. 1 1

You got a network job very few journalists get a network job and you leave it, if I was him I would’ve stayed. 1
nathannah 2792 Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 I think in this case he had good reason to walk; whatever they offered beyond 20/20, it's all a downgrade. 1 1

It sucks for Demarco as he was really enthusiastic --brought to tears even -- when he got the job. But in all fairness this program was unstable from its iteration so he had to have seen this revamp was a possibility. Seems he can land jobs easily so he'll probably be fine. Compared to Good Afternoon America, and The Chew, ABC has really tried with the 3rd hour of GMA. Surprisingly the show hasn't been cancelled yet. Edited July 13, 2025 by MediaZone4K 1 1

Compared to Good Afternoon America, The Chew, and The Revolution ABC has really tried with the 1pm ET slot. Surprisingly GMA 3 hasn't been cancelled yet. Seems like he bounces around a lot. He only stays at most jobs 3-4 years, so he was due to leave again. I think GMA3 would work better if it was on at 9AM, but that would likely bump LIVE to 10AM on the east coast, but would create a problem in the other time zones unless THE VIEW and LOCAL NEWS also get bumped back an hour. 1
HanSolo 468 Posted July 9, 2025 Posted July 9, 2025 It creates a problem in the eastern time zone, at least so far as their own stations are concerned. The 10 am newscasts are seemingly important to them, and you can’t realistically move the existing noon newscasts to 1 to create that separation around The View. For now, there is no compelling need to put GMA3 nearer the mothership. Live serves the company’s purposes well, and eventually this transition period will settle down. 1 1

In other news, ABC News is launching a new D+-exclusive show calledWhat You Need To Know. (I couldn’t find a proper place to put it, so the GMA thread was the closest place I could). 1 1

WeatherandTraffic 63 Posted August 21, 2025 Posted August 21, 2025 Is it just me or is Sam Champion overrated. He seems fake and over the top and basically gets whatever schedule he wants. I feel like having him back on is not really needed. 1
nathannah 2792 Posted August 21, 2025 Posted August 21, 2025 He's so many years from retirement and earned the right to rotate his assignments from day to day. Maybe if Rob Marciano had known how to treat other co-workers and especially women he'd be doing the same thing now. I agree Sam is hyped up on all the caffeine and he's not for everyone, but his prime was in bright and cheery 90s news when seriousness was for the longtime 'grumpy old anchor who's too old for this but I'm used to this schedule' and everyone else could be goofy. But he does seriousness well when needed, is great as presenting even without certs, and he still has a 'morning show' mindset that's sorely missed when a lot of the format is now so much news, promotions, and having to regard the chicken sandwich wars like the Gulf War. I'll take his sincere cheer any day of the week. 1 1 1 1

Having been to a taping of LIVE myself, some segments are pre-recorded, so even when aired "live" it's not entirely live. Edited August 23, 2025 by MediaZone4K 1

He has good chemistry with Robin, George and Lara which is a critical component to these morning shows working. 1 1

When Sam left for TWC, it was professional and very respectful. Josh called Disney’s bluff and got the Bankers Box to NBC. Funny how Comcast bought them only to keep them on ice for a few years. I’m sure that was the plan. Sam’s place is perfect where he is and should just get GMA3 full-time. That 2012-4 GMA team was their best lineup. I feel bad for Josh since he seemed to have a good thing at CBSN only for office politics to screw him. He looked very humbled when he came back to GMA for that 40th reunion. 2
