Given that KLEW is now being operated by Rincon, who's to say they wont start simulcasting some news from KXLY (or even add a simulcast of both KXLY and KAYU on the subchannels)

KLEW is in the Spokane market (although it services a tiny corner of it as the 2nd CBS affiliate in the market); you won’t see KXLY on a subchannel. What I think will happen is the closer KIMA/KEPR will do the KLEW news (all three owned by Sinclair but operated by Rincon).

I'm still at a loss for words for why Sinclair/Rincon is choosing to consolidate at KOKI's facilities and not KTUL.  My assumption is that KTUL currently has the superior building and studio space - notwithstanding the cuts and partial merger with KOKH for newscasts.

An absolute tragedy for Tulsa is the only way to summarize this.

And to close the loop on the Tulsa consolidation, Sinclair has exercised an option to purchase KOKI sister station KMYT. https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/dataentry/views/public/assignmentDraftCopy?displayType=html&appKey=25076ff39bdbd079019c2ab7588a70ba&id=25076ff39bdbd079019c2ab7588a70ba&goBack=N

Its official.

KCYU/KFFX now airs its 10pm newscast as produced by KIMA/KEPR, ending the KNDO/KNDU partnership.

Noticed this a few nights ago. I guess KFFX wasn't satisfied with KNDU's partnership anymore (or Rincon wasn't).

Meanwhile, this is happening 1,400 miles away. Live newscasts have ended at KGAN Cedar Rapids. The March 23rd newscast was all pre-recorded except for weather...just reports from MMJs and prerecorded anchor blurbs from other parts of the state. Another news department falls.

How long before Sinclair (or someone else) experiments with AI anchors, AI weather, AI sports?

Wait, so Sinclair is closing the news department of the station it's owned since 2014 in favor of the news department it just acquired last month?

Oh, and here's a cleaned-up link for anyone who would prefer it:

And now this; Rincon is suddenly done, with its stations being sold to Standard Media to form what looks likely to be another Sinclair shell. I am so tired (of being sadly right).

Todd Parkin sold his equity, and notified the FCC on Tuesday stations will be transferred to what looks like a holding company. Allegedly, Sinclair is expected to buy the stations, KOKI etc,  soon-ish

So does this also mean that all of the stations that Rincon now owns "outright" are going back to Sinclair?   This includes the Illinois stations in Champaign/Springfield & Quincy as well as Milwaukee and Kirksville/Ottumwa?

I figured it was all too good to be true.  Makes it interesting since Rincon virtually "yoinked" WHBQ's graphics and put them on the above stations (except for Milwaukee).

Yep. If I'm reading this correctly, WICS/WRSP + WICD/WCCU + WBUI, KHQA, KTVO, KLKN, WLNE, and WVTV will remain under Rincon's control (though Sinclair operates WLNE).

We all should've known that it was going to be another Sinclair shell to get around the FCC's regulations.

stations are going into a holding company owned by Standard Media to be overseen by their CEO.

Parkin has also reneged on buying Standard Media (KLKN, WLNE, KBSI, WDKA), and Sinclair stations (WVTV, WICS, WICD, KHQA, KTVO) that was announced in July 2025.

Allegedly, his financing fell through (bridge loans, operating income for 3 months post closing per FCC rules, refi into a permanent deb), and Standard Media is said to have no interest, they want out asap. If he was 'warehousing' the stations the lenders probably balked at giving him money for a bridge or permanent refi

The documents, submitted with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on Tuesday, said Rincon Broadcasting Group was transferring control of the stations to Community News Media LLC, an entity affiliated with Standard Media and controlled by Soohyung Kim.

He's baaaaaaaaaaaaack...

At this point why bother having newscasts at all on TV if they're just running a bunch of packages?  It's almost no different than binge watching YouTube.  And is it really that difficult to pay a technical director and ONE anchor?

Euronews style - voice behind the camera and jumping from story to story. Makes sense - fewer people are watching overall, especially in a small market like Tulsa. I'm more surprised they didn't just simulcast KOKI and call it a day

That’s what Sinclair has done in Providence ABC after closing the newsroom and moving it to a sub channel of WJAR.  An aside, when I was back in RI a month ago, the hotel finally had ABC programming on the ABC channel, rather than the repeats of whatever digipet is now on WLNE.  That took a long time.

I can only imagine had the Meredith-Media General deal gone through.  And if so, how long would have Kim been in the picture?

But I have a feeling Kim and all of the other spinoffs of Cox are circling around Sinclair or vice versa....

I'm waiting on the day Kim acquires Sinclair and announces Deb McDermott is gonna lead the company.  You just know its gonna happen.

Nope! I don't think Standard General is going to be acquiring many more stations.

When has Soo Kim ever won a proxy fight?

They would have to rip Sinclair away from David Smith's cold dead hands for that to happen.

I don’t have a full confirmation of this but I’m guessing KTUL NewsChannel 8 is moving from their long time home on top of Lookout Mountain to KOKI FOX23’s studios this weekend. The reason I say this is former weekend sports anchor and sports reporter Ruben Diaz posted that he hated hearing the news coming out of Tulsa on his old station.

Soo Kim & Deb will be at the hip until they go to the grave LOL. But I don't see Soo Kim taking over Sinclair since David Smith will not ever sell unless it's an offer he couldn't refuse to sell.

In Yakima...Fox 41 is now Fox 29.3 (well, I believe it's still called "Fox 41"). KCYU dropped Fox this morning after over 35 years. First as K53CY, then K68EB, then KCYU. Channel 41 is now Roar.

Meanwhile, Scott Stovall was on the newscast last night at 5 and 6. I hope the absence of John Kennedy O'Connor is temporary...but I have been predicting the demise of the KIMA television studios for years now. So who knows?
