AmericanErrorist 154 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) The FCC has renewed WTXF's license, swatting down Media and Democracy Project's challenge with ease: https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DA-25-57A1.txt The upside is that the settlement in the Smartmatic case can't be considered because it doesn't rise to the level of a criminal conviction, and even if it did, lying on cable news isn't severe enough to affect broadcast license ownership as per the 1st Amendment. (The FCC refused to due MAD's homework in combing over the WTXF archives for objectionable material.) Edited January 17 by AmericanErrorist 4
Megatron81 278 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 As I thought that WTXF license would be renewed, and that Media & Democracy didn't have a case to begin with and only did this stunt to get attention and get people to donate for the cause. I thought this wasn't going to renew until the new FCC came into power but I was glad that the old FCC renewed it as their final act., And scolded not just MAD but other groups on 60 Minutes and I didn't know that the ABC O&O in Philly also got a complaint as well. 1

Megatron81 278 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 MAD appealing The FCC ruling on the Fox29 license renewal all on the character issue they should just take the L as it will be denied as it should again. Will MAD take The FCC to court if they don't get their way on the matter. 1

Will MAD take The FCC to court if they don't get their way on the matter. This is the story on the appeal: https://tvnewscheck.com/regulation/article/media-and-democracy-project-appeals-dismissal-of-fox-broadcast-license-challenge/ Considering Brendan Carr revived three complaints against ABC, CBS and NBC from a right-wing groups masquerading as a neutral arbiter over media coverage that Trump perceived as unfair to him, the Media and Democracy Project’s appeal could make that action look more politically motivated in the end. If the FCC denies MAD’s appeal, despite reviving the other equally fruitless complaints and given Fox’s alignment with the right-wing through Fox News and Fox Business (despite Trump’s complaints about their coverage of the 2020 election results, the same election he still claims was rigged against him), it’d only serve as ammo for claims that Carr is misusing his authority as FCC Chair to target MSM outlets over Trump’s personal grievances against them, especially if punitive actions of some kind were meted out in relation to the other complaints. In fact, MAD claims that the dismissal of its complaint by Carr’s former colleague, Jessica Rosenworcel, on First Amendment grounds was politically motivated, despite none of them being merited. The reasoning behind MAD’s complaint, based on actions by a separate Fox Corporation division, wouldn’t have merited a license revocation, just as the reasoning behind the other complaints wouldn’t merit revocation or other actions (such as denial of license transfers in the Paramount-Skydamce merger, which would be telling and prompt legal action if Carr and the FCC board’s GOP members ultimately do that). And the aftermath… The station’s outdoor weather set was destroyed, several trees and tree limbs surrounding the building were snapped, and some cars were damaged (including the sunroof of meteorologist T.J. Springer’s car). The building’s roof managed to hold on, but it was partially bent from a couple of its clips, so it was a close call. It could’ve been worse, especially considering a house was completely destroyed farther south in Longwood. (Credit to an unknown user on the Broadcast Plaza Discord for the before and after photos.) TheRolyPoly 2563 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 This is off-topic, but wow. Such a beautiful home, all destroyed. Ugh. I feel for the folks who lived there. 4
TheRolyPoly 2563 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Local sports is coming to FOX O&Os. First, it was the Liberty with WNYW and WWOR. Next, 10 Brewers games on WITI. Now, its the Dallas Stars on KDFW and KDFI with two games on each channel. https://www.fox4news.com/news/dallas-stars-games-fox-4-more27-schedule

Jase 1065 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 ‘Good Day Seattle’ (Fox13) has a new opening/look. If it feels familiar, it’s because it’s very similar to Fox 32’s ‘Good Day Chicago’. 1 1

24994J 5621 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 It's a polarizing look, but I think the Chicago version works better, as there are simply more unique landmarks and imagery to use. Feels a little more fleshed-out. It's no coincidence that WFLD's current boss and morning anchor both came from Seattle. 4

I wouldn't be surprised if other Fox O&O stations are to get similar morning newscast openings like that of WFLD 32 and KCPQ 13. For WNYW 5, they'd have the Mahattan skyline buildings (like 1WTC, Empire State Building, etc.), the Statue Of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge as local landmarks that'd easily be in their Good Day opening. KTTV 11 would have the Hollywood sign. WTTG 5 would have the U.S. Capitol, Washington Monument, White House, etc. It'll be interesting to see this be rolled out. 2 1

Several stations have shown more color and design flexibility, in recent months. That said, WNYW has already recently gone in a new direction with GDNY. 1

TheRolyPoly 2563 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I already knew that WTVT has a weather program, SkyTower Weather NOW, on FOX Local. I didn't know WITI had one of their own too on FOX Local... Wisconsin Weather Experts. Here is one episode as an example: 1
