The opens no longer mention the time of the newscast, which feels cheap to me. The lower-thirds and anchors still say "CBS 2 News" and the CBS 2 logo remains everywhere. Are they trying to be gradual or is this really as uncoordinated as it looks?

And the "2" isn't even their own, they took it from their sister West Coast flagship O&O KCBS (Los Angeles) that have ditched that in favor of "KCAL News". Wonder how long before WCBS ditches the CBS2 logo completely especially after WBBM Chicago just did.

So glad to hear Maurice will be a large part of the new CBS Evening news, he deserves it! Kristine I think is also worthy of a national position if they were to offer it to her.

I think now it's more likely that Maurice will at least have a reduced schedule at WCBS in a few months but we'll see. Also Lonnie will now be "chief weathercaster". It is mentioned in the press release that Maurice will still have a "regular presence at WCBS".

Great to hear that Maurice got the job!  My guess is he will continue to anchor the 11:00pm newscast, but I cannot see him keeping the 5:00 and 6:00pm newscasts. Hopefully WCBS will announce their plans shortly.

This coupled with the news that Maurice will be a part of the CBSEN overhaul! Their profiles have really risen in the last year after YEARS on the local anchor desk!

To be fair, the broadcast nets as a whole like showcasing the NY-news anchors on a nat'l scale ocassionally considering its their home base. As they can "If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere", although it doesn't help some folks perception of the mainstream media being so NY-bias & all. That said, as a NY-expat living in AZ who moved just over 2 yrs. ago, cool to see familiar faces on the nat'l front. Also, reading off of the press release, it looks like in terms of weather, WCBS is going to get the KPIX treatment in regards to graphics.

In regards to Lonnie Quinn, since he'll probably just come on when there's major weather going on, he can maintain his WCBS schedule & considering he's planning to do weather segments a new AR/VR studio, perhaps CBS2 is going to get a similar weather upgrade to what KPIX in San Francisco has.

Anchoring tonight at 5pm is Doug Williams and Jessica Moore. Although he's not my favorite and I'd much prefer Dick, I could easily see Doug being part of a promotion.

Doug's a Chris Wragge-type going from sports (he was at SNY before Ch. 2) to news.

I'm happy for all 4. Oh so they're all continuing the roles they already have, I just think Muarice and Lonnie should give up WCBS all together you made it to the national why work double duty trust me CBS News New York is still there it isn't going anywhere. If they both don't like the nationals they could come back to local. I say this because on election night 2026 or 2028 they're all 3 are probably the ones who are gonna be anchoring coverage shall that day come up and we know election nights can go pass 11pm Maurice can't hoop off the desk doing WCBS then come back on to national coverage. So I don't understand why all of them are gonna be doing 2 jobs.

WCBS should our Wragge right back into the evening with Kristine I think they were besties when the hosted it.

I hate to be negative, but given how unstable the CBSEN is I wouldn't advise Maurice to cut all ties with CBS 2 for national.

I opt for Dick Brennan as evening anchor. He's got tons of personality and really good chemistry with Kristine.

Give Cindy Hsu the Noon on top of the 9 am since Chris & or Mary anchor multiple shows between 4:30a and 12p.

Wow, first Dana Tyler now Maurice's promotion. Big year at CBS 2.

I say cut all ties, why because if EN format doesn't work he can take over as solo anchor if the program and managing editor when they decide this format wasn't good and they decide to go normal again this an if. Peter Jennings did the same thing. He needs to think about the money, going back to CBS2 is less money more like thousands he's in the big leagues his salary is probably millions now. This is telling him leave WCBS you're in the big leagues enjoy it

Beginning in September, it sounds like the 9am newscast (at least on air; perhaps it will survive on streaming) is being replaced by the hour long Drew Barrymore.

or move to WLNY?   And when is the third hour of CBS Mornings going to be slotted?  Or will it replace the Talk?

Sad to hear Cindy's 9am show will not air on TV anymore (according to guides it doesn't look like it is moving to WLNY). So maybe it will be streaming only?

Either way I hope that they will make Cindy permanent anchor of the noon show, or give her a prominent role.

Has the quality of Drew's show improved for it to not be canceled yet? What was the purpose of the half hour format again?

CBS is launching a soap opera in The Talk's slot in 2025, with The Talk ending in December. I question how a third hour of CBS Mornings would fit on the schedule with Drew in the way. Hopefully Judge Judy reruns stay for a long time to come.

Cindy Hsu and John Elliott were given a chance to briefly thank viewers for tuning in at 9 a.m. the last two years. Sounds like the entire show is ending and will not continue on streaming, even though they made it a point to add live news in the 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. hours in the past year.

It appears Cindy will be the noon anchor. For the last year or so (probably more), Chris and Mary would alternate anchoring solo, and often anyone filling in in the morning would be given the noon duties that day. It'll be nice having a set anchor there again.

Just stinks to lose the 9 a.m. show. It was built around Cindy's personality and being positive and helpful.

Now I wonder if the "Start With Kindness" tips will stay. I hope so.
