I was listening to WBBM Newsradio last night during the tornado warnings for Chicago and they still called the tv side as CBS2. I have a feeling it will take some time to call it CBS Chicago.

I'm sure if there was still a co-ownership, there would be a greater effort to ensure the copy is updated to make sure "CBS Chicago" is what's mentioned. Otherwise, the radio side, as you mentioned, is just like the average person- it will take time to normalize the new name.

David Yeomans is great addition to the weather team and the station. I really like his enthusiasm about the weather and how professional he is, just like the rest of the weather team. Speaking of, has Ed Curran been on lately? Because he usually fills in at 11am, but it's been Mary Kay Kleist(who worked well with David the last 2 nights). It seems like Ed is having health issues again and they really need 2 more meteorologists to relieve the rest of the team, especially Mary Kay whose supposed to be part time. But feels like she's double time.

Same! He seems like he has a fun personality based on his day in CBS Chicago’s “Friday Takeover” on Instagram.

Joe and Irika anchored the 10P newscast (last night). I believe they were the only station to call in their main anchors. Everyone else had their usual weekend anchor(s).

The new set is good, but KCAL did it best.

I dont care for story images taking over the video wall completely like above. It doesn't  look as great as a skyline shot. like this style better:

Ed is back (as of yesterday I believe??) and is working from home (like Mary Kay). That said, they still have a job (posted on 7/30) for a weather anchor/reporter; which could suggest Ed's return is temporary (i.e.. he will retire at some point, etc..) or this new meteorologist will work on the weekends.

She was at WBBM? Who knew. LOL. Wow missed that.

She graduated from University in 2016 and was already in Chicago. That was fast to make it top 3 market and be gone already to a network..

WBBM debuted their VR studio today they are calling the weather sphere. Is this in their previous studio space?

Yes. In some BTS shots, you can see that the interview set is the only piece still standing. The green space is placed at the former weather center end, wrapping around to the anchor desk space and the unseen 4th wall.

And with so many changes happening at 2, they’ve quietly dropped their 4:30am half of the morning newscast which has been part of the morning show since it was reinstated back in 2010.

Probably a cost-savings move. I wouldn't be overly concerned about it. Overall, they have been making moves to better position themselves moving forward, imo. Getting the jumbotron fixed, moving back to the streetside studio, getting a AR/VR weather setup and moving Baker back to sports have been huge positives.

Heck... they even went as far as to replace the tv monitors in the lobby with four big new ones. Hopefully, they're not forced to make any huge personnel cuts in the near future.

Sidenote: I can't help but notice that Jim's hands tend to shake/tremble a lot. I hope he's not dealing with a serious medical condition.

Anyone know what happened to Lauren Victory? I haven't seen her on air since September, her bio is still up.

Based on social media, she was very pregnant back then. She'll probably in the new year.

4:30am newscasts are dropping across the O&Os because of CBS cuts.

KPIX also dropped their 5am newscast for sometime.

they now broadcast at 6am then 7am on KPIX+

8am was also dropped and shows a replay of the 7am, recently found out during daylight savings when wondering why it’s still dark outside behind the anchors when it’s sunny outside 🤣

instead of saying “previously recorded” like you see on the stream, they cover the timestamp with a grey box 🙄
