WITI has quietly added a 10:30pm newscast; no promos or announcements from what I’ve seen

Not surprising given Milwaukee is hosting the RNC convention in a couple of weeks. WFLD ‘may’ bring back ‘The Ten’ or a M-F version of ‘Paris on Politics’ when Chicago hosts the DNC convention.

I wouldn't normally expound on this, but there is a lot of the story that has not been reported on yet.

The two articles out on this have Michael's side of the story with none of the other information reported on...yet...

With the word on the street, he was definitely fired for cause after many people have come forward (even co-workers) with accusations.

Look up Mobile, AL on reddit and you'll see what I mean.  This could get ugly.  That's why I'm not expounding on this here and giving you a chance to judge for yourself.

Per his IG, WFTV's Raphael Pires (a WSVN alum) is leaving tv news after only 8 years. He is one of many 'day in the life of a news reporter' vloggers that I have followed. Almost all of them, namely Clancy Burke, have left the industry. He has not stated his reasons for doing so but all his fellow vloggers have stated pay, conditions, deadlines, work environments and industry trajectory and are bowing out early. Can't blame them.

Two retirements coming from WJZ. Last week it was Mark Viviano who announced his retirement effective July 18th:

This week it's Vic Carter, who will retire on July 25th:

Let me guess, lots of people running for office in Iowa and they want that sweet political $$$.

Of course, with the presidential election, if someone drops out, all the better.

KPIX is showing CBS Mornings at 4am and according to TitanTV, CBS News Bay Area Morning Edition Sunday doesn't start 5am, but yes, at 6am, followed by another CBS Mornings broadcast at 7am. Something similar to what happens with KCBS, will this be permanent?

NBC LX has been replaced with American Crimes (re: more true crime shows).

Extremely redundant with Oxygen, which has the same format and parent company (Comcast/NBCUniversal), and is also available OTA. Funny enough, KUOT-CD carries both networks on neighboring subchannels (American Crimes on 22.4 and Oxygen on 22.5).

That said, the former LX had been adding more true crime shows to its lineup since it shifted from news to lifestyle programming (as LX Home).

Agree with the part about redundancy.  I can't see why NBCU didn't replace LX Home with NBC News Now as a subchannel.  In fact, it would be cool if the Big Four O&Os plug-in their local and national streaming news networks as subchannels, that could at least increase their visibility among those viewers that just rely solely on over-the-air reception. Not everyone has access to or want to use the internet.

Man. This hurts. Both Mark and Vic were icons at WJZ. Now that Mark is gone, who’s going to do sports?

Besides the website archives being dumped for the cable channels it sounds like corporate is about to start another slow-roll cull of big name talent via early retirement (just like the New York and LA offices are heavily filled with Robert Half contractors)...this can only end badly and I feel like Skydance/Son of Oracle is about to give us an even uglier replay of the Tisch era for CBS.

This is probably worthy of another thread, but how has the Microsoft/Crowdstrike outage affected your local stations?

The irony is that Crowdstrike was implemented after the Sinclair hack in 2021....and probably other places as well.

Wow! Didn’t see this one coming: KPRC/Houston is canceling its 10a newscast after less than a year. The Drew Barrymore Show, which has been airing at 3a on Nexstar’s KIAH, takes over the KPRC 10a slot as soon as the Olympics end in 2-ish weeks.
