wofchristian 46 Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 In a surprise move, CBS-2 Chicago has rebranded to CBS News Chicago.

ekt8750 50 Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 (edited) I wouldn't be surprised if KYW is the next O&O to fully shed the channel number from its branding. The Eye-3 logo is really only vestige of it left as they don't mention 3 at all verbally. Everything is "CBS Philadelphia" and "CBS News Philadelphia". They might as well just finish peeling off the band-aid already. Edited July 9, 2024 by ekt8750 3 1

That 2 was an appendage that needed to go and the new logo—with the Chicago flag stars—is more Chicago-y than any other Chicago station. 4 1 1
MediaZone4K 2233 Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Will the flagship WCBS follow suit? Most New Yorkers I know refer to them as Channel 2. 1

SFTV 529 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 Didn’t want to make a new thread unless it’s official, KPIX this week has been using the “morning/sports” set on the other side of the studio for all of its newscasts except for its Noon newscast which is done in the newsroom. not sure if they are doing studio maintenance or possible speculation of getting KCAL’d with the new mandate set. the shots are so tight so I’m not sure if they moved the “set” next door where the virtual weather set is currently located. mind you, PIX never got the whole makeover mandate look. In 2020 they refreshed its 2012 look by getting the 2016 KCBS anchor desk, updated the duratrans walls, got rid of the traffic center in place of a couch set that never got much airtime which was converted into a secondary set now used in the mornings and sports. They kept the framing from its 2012 Jack Morton design look based from WBBM’s 2008 street side studio. I guess we will see…… 1 1
GodfreyGR 685 Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Just something I noticed this morning on WCCO's page- a Co-branded "Day of Service" with Xcel Energy... With the old "4" logo? (Which is odd because even with that logo, WCCO almost always placed the call letters underneath it) Oversight on someone's part? 2
MediaZone4K 2233 Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) Not sure where to put this but KPIX has adopted the CBS News 24/7 virtual map look. I really like it, wish it were used in NYC aswell. I also like the graphic at the beginning of the package that credits the photo journalist. Edited September 29, 2024 by MediaZone4K 2

JosiahCubed 281 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 A minor change to the weather graphics for KDKA happened last night, the title bar with the gold line underneath has now been replaced with a full width white title bar. I'm not seeing it show up on the other O&Os.

JosiahCubed 281 Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 KDKA finally got news mic flags, although unlike all of the others that use the call sign square, the entire mic flag is black. 2 1 1
Dave Lampstein 120 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Looks like WDJT is going to move from the old CBS O&O look to the new one tomorrow at noon. I think this makes them the second non-O&O to adapt this look, right? 6 1 1

Good to see WDJT rebrand their news to the market they cover unlike other CBS O&O's that just lazily brand to the state they're in. 2 2

GodfreyGR 685 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 6 hours ago, NYAZSporty said: unlike other CBS O&O's that just lazily brand to the state they're in. I wouldn't say "lazily". Strategic might be a better descriptor. Here in Minnesota (for when WCCO uses the CBSMN branding), greater MN is simply different Minneapolis/St. Paul- the communities are different, the politics are different, the people are different, and 'CCO has KCCW in the northern part of the state that serves a great deal of viewers OTA who are 3-4 hours from Minneapolis; and for what it's worth also does a decent job in balancing the stories and wx between the metro and Greater MN. That made "Minnesota" smarter for them to use than Minneapolis-St. Paul in this case. Even the major newspaper, the Star Tribune, just rebranded late last year as "The Minnesota Star Tribune" (and it's the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Wild... The list goes on). Then you have the O&O's in the markets that LOVE their city and much of the region revolves around what's happening in said city- Philly, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore instantly popped into my head as examples for that. 4 2
Horizon 273 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 (edited) The CBS News Local graphics have come to Milwaukee ...to me, nothing to really write home about. It looks the same as the CBS O&Os, except it's in teal. But they got everything almost to a T with this. Edited March 18 by Horizon 1 1
Dave Lampstein 120 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Swapping to a teal color for the brand was a choice. I’m surprised they paid to license the CBS brand music too. It’s a nice improvement that is sure to rocket them out of their distant fourth place spot. It’s just too bad they couldn’t do their own look, one of the few small companies left without a corporate style. 4 1 1
