Ugh these corporate group graphics are becoming more and bland and boring. Geez. With the automated rundowns and lockdown cameras and bland samey theme music. Todays newscasts are BORING.

Totally agree. The current slanted graphics look better.

Speaking of boring, from watching multiple Hearst stations across Florida including WPBF and WESH, the newscasts are plain. I don't know if anyone watching other Hearst markets feel similar?

In all fairness, Hearst appears to be a well-funded, clean looking product but a lot of their newscasts are devoid of any flavor.

Instead of WESH I find myself tuning into WOFL Fox 35 because they have more creative and active newscasts. The Fox O&Os are particularly good at trying to break the mold of traditional newscasts.

Early returns say that I hate it but I'll wait and see what it looks like on some of their bigger stations.

I see someone tried to be cute and replicate the new peacock's design and animation and failed miserably. It really doesn't work when you try to shoehorn in the border that it wasn't designed for. Also it supposed to be misaligned with the 2 like that?

According to Logopedia, yes... Been that way since 2014

I think the aim is to have the NBC logo hanging off the edge, so they don't see it as a misalignment. Something like this...

But yes, it would be more visually appealing to have the peacock align with the bottom part of the 2 like such...

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this. This simplistic "flat design" look that literally every newscast has nowadays has run its course. It all looks the same.

I actually think it's a good evolution of the Hearst design, which has aged pretty well compared to the other group packs. I like to think they didn't change them wholesale because they see their stations visually as newspapers in design where stability is a good thing and any change should be subtle and slow.

Yes, it looks like more of the same, but Hearst is already on top in many of their markets. Not much they do need to do to keep that advantage, and the graphics match their 'not broken' thinking.

I agree. It’s a nice evolution of the diagrid graphics (even if the diagrid isn’t fully visible in the new ones), and they do fall in line with the teaser graphics that have been rolled out over the past few months.

Looks like Hearst partnered with Vivid Zero on the new diagrid look. Their 2025 studio reel contains brief clip of what appears to be WCVB's version of the open at the 0:32 second mark.

I noticed that too on their LinkedIn page, and I thought some of those elements looked familiar.
