  1. Looks like Hearst partnered with Vivid Zero on the new diagrid look. Their 2025 studio reel contains brief clip of what appears to be WCVB's version of the open at the 0:32 second mark. https://www.facebook.com/100057501037117/videos/1278638849916517/

  3. Someone should give them some advice… The graphics for the headlines and the show title above it look like something a high school student who grew up in Fargo, North Dakota watching news on the cheap would make. WDIV doesn’t have these yet to my knowledge (haven’t looked lately) but it would fit right in with the rest of their ailing product. The buyouts last year were most unkind to them quality wise.

  4. I agree. It’s a nice evolution of the diagrid graphics (even if the diagrid isn’t fully visible in the new ones), and they do fall in line with the teaser graphics that have been rolled out over the past few months.

  6. 6abc is using a mix of old and new graphics for the Eagles parade. The clock is from the old package and the lower third is new (not the usual one used for newscasts).

  8. I'm not a fan of this update... It feels like a cheapened update... Some of the graphics/motions look like they were taken from a third-party website...

  9. Canada Ian Hanomansing will have a new gig to add to his CBC News portfolio. Coming live from CBUT/CBUFT Vancouver (his longtime CBC News home dating back to his Canada NOW days), Hanomansing Tonight will begin next Tuesday, February 18th on CBC News Network from 7-9 p.m. (4-6 p.m. PT). He will still do the great Cross Country Checkup program for CBC Radio One plus the Sunday edition of The National on CBC Television. https://broadcastdialogue.com/ian-hanomansing-to-host-new-daily-cbc-news-primetime-program/

  13. The article says they eventually want to do all news, all day and night for Fox O&O duopoly markets. DC is basically there, with only 4.5 hours of non-local content on WTTG between 4am and midnight, plus a live 8pm hour newscast on WDCA.

  14. DFW is on a roll in terms of having live free OTA sports because now Nexstar will carry 15 Rangers games this upcoming season. It will be on KDAF plus other stations throughout the state and the South. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/nexstar-to-offer-15-texas-rangers-games/

  18. Dickerson is a good interviewer/storyteller, but isn’t particularly great when it comes to breaking news coverage. He appeared tense and twice stumbled over his words during the EN the day after the DC plane/helicopter collision. Plus, he tends to not pay attention to the person he’s talking to (often writing on his note pad instead). In some ways, he is over analytical. DuBois, overall, is the better of the two, imo. Not sure why CBS has been so enamored with Dickerson when they have/had other male anchors/correspondents who are just as good (if not better). I still say he must have some dirt on people…

  19. Also worth mentioning that since the floor is also a monitor, they have done segments where the from floor to ceiling is entirely graphics like what I'm attaching.

  20. I wonder why they opted to have only one of them anchor Plus. Contrary to our speculation of an eventual solo broadcast starring Maurice, John was the one chosen to solo anchor Plus. John is a fine journalist but I wonder why CBS consistently chooses him As an anchor when they reshuffle broadcasts.

  22. I actually like CBS' scorebar. My only issue with it is they went away from TT Norms which is odd given how married the rest of the company's presentation is to it. It also seems like they're slowly adding elements to the overall on screen look to match it.

  23. Aw, I will miss her. She always had a sense of grace when delivering the news. She always delivered the news in a calm way that was captivating will miss her dearly. So unfortunate that her home was also destroyed in the Eaton Fire, that must've been wild to report on a story that was directly affecting her. Godspeed to her in her future.

  24. He anchors from the regular CBSEN studio. It’s worth noting the a majority of the new studio is simply video walls. All that surrounds John in the attached image (from Monday night) is a single U shaped video wall. The “monitor” Weijia is in - totally fake. I attached a pic of the building timelapse showing all the video walls and floor. The only actual set pieces are the wooden header, the desk, and the floor in front of it. In fact, the floor behind it is also a video wall. You’ll notice they pretape a lot of segments (including the penny one attached) on their set - it’s actually really creative.

  25. I have a couple of fonts created by amateur typographers on DeviantArt based on the Fox logo; they don’t resemble the version introduced during the game, and seem more influenced by Gotham than Franklin Gothic.

  27. With this, schedule changes... KCBS now airs the CBS Evening News at 4:00 with Plus at 4:30 while keeping the second EN airing at 6:30. KPIX now airs the CBS Evening News at 4:00 and drops their 4:30pm news to air Plus. KOVR airs Plus LIVE at 4:00pm PT, but that also means that KOVR now starts their local news at 4:30 instead. WFOR drops their 7:00pm news to air Plus.

  28. At least FOX's refreshed scorebar was creative unlike CBS's last year where it felt generic while leaving the graphics outside of the scorebar largely untouched.

  30. It's almost like it's 1993 and Fox debuted these as a test before landing the NFL rights a year later. Because back then, it was basically text on the screen with the score coming in and out of break.

  31. To be honest, I love the new graphics.

  32. I'm wondering if this font will be used across Fox Sports (MLB, NASCAR, etc.) Wouldn't make sense to make a font based on your network's logo and not use it across your whole division.

  35. That was probably because Fox had the Hell’s Kitchen season finale they had to air beforehand. The NFL Honors also rotates between the four Super Bowl broadcasters, with that year’s rightsholder to the game also airing the Honors (except in 2022 and 2023).

  36. Hearst stations usually have an app or weather promo with proper ID before the newscast intro so I'm not worried for the ID here and they'll probably adjust it quickly.

  41. And he just referenced it in passing at 4:30 because in this case, it was applicable to the snow moving through. Just not something they need to emphasize as hard as they did initially.

  44. Folks, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade we're told. So when an orange plume of chlorine filled the air causing school to be virtual for two weeks, hence we couldn't record in studio, make lemonade we did, in the form of a virtual episode! Despite not being together, every part of our team did an outstanding job on this episode! We still maintained a good sense of professionalism that we are known for despite the current situation and I do think it is one of our best ones! Hope you enjoy! https://lnkd.in/gQx87MND

  48. Early returns say that I hate it but I'll wait and see what it looks like on some of their bigger stations. I see someone tried to be cute and replicate the new peacock's design and animation and failed miserably. It really doesn't work when you try to shoehorn in the border that it wasn't designed for. Also it supposed to be misaligned with the 2 like that?

  49. Very likely, it's produced by KNBC considering the time it comes on after college football, similar to what we have here in Phoenix now apparently as KPNX has a new Saturday night sports show called 12 Sports Locker Room which actually starts tonight after the NASCAR race. Have a feeling in addition to being post-college football programming to keep sports fans tuned in afterwards, this also feels like a replacement for having lost the Cardinals broadcasting rights to KPHO/KTVK & hence the post-SNF programming as well alongside their Sunday night sports show 12 Sports Tonight.
