Now that the ABC and WABC operations are in one building, we are now seeing the shared resources (talent included) for both national and local productions. Jeff Smith and Lee Goldberg have appeared on World News Tonight many times now. Yesterday also marked Lee's 29th year with WABC.

Just saw it on IG and came here to say that it definitely did not seem to be her choice ("some goodbyes are hidden blessings and nudges towards something new" and "I am no longer with Eyewitness News"). It's odd, since she was doing some anchoring. I wonder if something happened.

That is definitely indirect news reporter speak for a non amicable departure but not saying too much for fear of being blacklisted.

 

WABC has the least turnover, so Im curious aswell.

That does sound like leaving wasn't something she wanted to do. I see a lot of her co-workers have left comments wishing her well and sad over her departure.

Suspicious I find that suspicious… could it be management could she been laid off obviously her colleagues like Shirleen are wishing her the best so it had to be management. Can’t speculate further but perhaps she was laid off..

Mike Marza proving to be the hardest working man at EWN! He anchored yesterday’s newscast at 5 and 11pm and is filling in on his old stomping ground for the Saturday morning’s newscast.

Kudos to him and Pedro as this is not the first time they’ve filled in on the weekend morning. And can I just say, I think Dani is the star of the weather team!

On a separate note, could Elex Michaelson from LA be coming to WABC to replace Pedro on weekend mornings?

Joe Torres anchored the Saturday 11pm-midnight newscast as he usually does.. and must have got maybe three hours of sleep because he’s filling in on the 6am and 9am newscasts this Sunday morning.

Hmm that would be him leaving home to go so far away. Also he won’t be the face of the station like he was in LA, he will have to face Sade and Mike.

she wasn’t laid off - that would imply budget cuts and her position eliminated. Her position — general assignment reporter— was recently listed as open, as was the position of weekend anchor/reporter. 

 

It sounds more like she and WABC couldn’t come to an agreement on a new contract and/or she was told the anchor position was not something she would be offered.

100% agree. She’s become a quick favorite of the weather team in her short time at channel 7 so far. That 10am show is much better when she’s on.

I've been watching her since her days at KTNV Las Vegas. She is fantastic and very beautiful, I do agree.

Once again, there over extending Brittney Bell. She did the morning and noon newscasts and did WNT and ABC News Live prime. With Sam almost out the door, they really need another full time meteorologist to avoid the super long hours.

Yeah I’m not understanding that. It’s one thing when Dani does it, seems like her typical shift might be like 9-7 or whatever when she does mornings at 10 and then WNT. But Jeff was in for Lee tonight, not sure why they wouldn’t just have him to the quick hit.

I just don't like the early and long hours as it contributed to the early deaths of Lisa Colagrossi, Katherine Creag and Elise Finch.

I'd say hire two more. You have Lee, Brittany, Dani, and Jeff, but they seem to struggle on some days to rely on only one person to do everything on any particular day. I feel like having two more would be beneficial and help relieve some stress, especially in the #1 market.

You have a totally fair point. A pre 7am to 11:35 pm workday is ALOT. They could use another MET.  However she seems to be enjoying herself based on the Instagram reel.

 

From firsthand experience, I can tell you when you do something you love such as journalism, it's much easier to pull a double -- SOMETIMES -- rather than in a regular job that you're not passionate about.
