@jrogo - wondering if it’s the WNJU set as it’s very similar to WNBC. Maybe it’s being used for election coverage prior to WNJU moving in?

I guess it could be, but this studio looks to have a higher quality of finishes and more tech than WNBC’s, if you look at pictures of 3B this one seems to be bigger too. I guess we’ll have to wait and see who’s it is!

Well I stand corrected. The other site has confirmed it’s Telemundo 47’s new studio after all, which I have to say looks great for a Telemundo set, and in my opinion it looks better than WNBC’s. Good for them, too bad it isn’t a set for NBC News/MSNBC, it’d work great for either.

Surprisingly, MSNBC aired a good chunk Trump's Super Tuesday speech, despite past objections to giving him a platform for inaccuracy. I also noticed network NBC was the only one of the big three to air the speech.

Moreover, NBC called Trump's performance a landslide

MSNBC mildly labeled it as "victories".

Obviously NBC attempts to stay more neutral then their cable counterpart, but it was still surprising to see.

Cool to see Today simulcast on MSNBC. The joint coverage NBC Special Report MSNBC bug was on screen at first, then they switched over to an MSNBC reports bug.

Same last night after NBC News went live.

At various times, on MSNBC, the "NBC News Special Report" banner has been present during its coverage while being anchored by some of the weekday MSNBC anchors.  It makes me wonder whether or not NBC O&Os and affilates were given the option outside of the mandatory special reports to preempt regular local programming to simulcast MSNBC (at least during the late night or early morning hours).  Where I live in the Los Angeles area, that was not the case on KNBC, however.

WNBC stuck with regular programming, which is driven by the network.  Much of it yesterday was sports.  If an affiliate chose to carry the programming on MSNBC, it would have required not carrying what the network was showing.  The NBC News Special Report banner at the bottom of the screen on MSNBC has been used before during special news programming.  It is being used this morning as Ana Cabrera is hosting the 6 am hour rather than the usual Morning Joe group.

No Morning Joe today? NBC News Now on MSNBC

No Morning Joe? You beat me to it.

I was questioning earlier this weekend why MSNBC didn't put any of their pundits on the coverage like Fox and CNN did. At first I summed it up to MSNBC being a skeleton crew on the weekend so they decided to consolidate resources with network NBC.

Speculation but, MSNBC wanting to avoid riling up tensions probably extended to the weekend coverage as well as Morning Joe.

But that thinking is off to me because CNN which also skews left has their people on.

Being as a-political as possible, from observation CNN does attempt to feature opposing viewpoints and presses leftist figures harder than MSNBC. I couldn't see the way Anderson Cooper pressed VP Harris after the Biden debate happening on MSNBC. The few people from the opposite side MSNBC features, like Joe Scarborough, tend to agree with the network's viewpoint. Moreover CNN, and FOX actually break off of politics for regular news coverage more than MSNBC.

I guess my thinking as the coverage was continuing was that CNN, unlike MSNBC, is trying to get back to that point where they are the channel people turn to when big news breaks- given the size and scope of the event, CNN thought bringing in their notable hosts (Blitzer, Anderson, et al) would be worth it to keep eyeballs on their coverage? MSNBC also has the advantage, as previously mentioned, of drawing from the mothership whenever they want during breaking news.

I have to say, from channel surfing as the news unfolded, while most networks held their own, I did find it notable that CNN and NBC brought in their main anchors shockingly quick (although, to CBS and ABC's credit, their respective anchors held their own).

Joe Scarborough says he was blindsided by MSNBC’s decision yesterday:

I love the genuine airing of frustrations and authenticity with the audience.

I am by no means a Morning Joe fan. The program is armchair pundits living in their echo chamber and pontificating about how the American public thinks and votes.  That decision to pull the show for fear of rhetoric however, did not make sense.

If the initial plan was to do one NBC breaking news feed -- but they reversed due to push back from not airing Morning Joe -- that would make more sense.

Minor graphical observations. I like how NBC and MSNBC are navigating showing off their branding plus the competition's. The MSNBC box is more seamless compared to the redundant double lines that other networks like FOX News are using.

Is this how presidential debates will be in future elections? One network controlling the event and simulcasting it to others?

Andrea Mitchell is calling it quits from her daily show on MSNBC after Inauguration Day. She will continue as chief Washington and foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News.

MSNBC's plans for Election Night:

On Nov. 5, MSNBC kicks off its Election Night coverage from the network’s home base in New York City. More than 25 anchors will take part in an array of reporting that spans cable, digital, and social media coverage. (All times Eastern.)

Starting at 6 p.m., Rachel Maddow leads the network’s primetime election coverage with the assistance of Nicolle Wallace, Ari Melber, Joy Reid, Chris Hayes, Alex Wagner, Lawrence O’Donnell, Stephanie Ruhle, and Jen Psaki.

As always, Steven Kornacki will be on Big Board duty for both NBC News and MSNBC. The national political correspondent will keep track of all the state-by-state results as they roll in. Serious Kornacki stans can also follow him via the Kornacki Cam, which streams on MSNBC.com, MSNBC on YouTube and Peacock, as well as social media platforms like TikTok and X, formerly Twitter.

Look for Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Claire McCaskill to provide additional contributions throughout the night. Meanwhile, additional analysis will come from a group that includes Rick Hasen, Matt Sanderson, John Fortier, Edward Foley, Nate Persily, Franita Tolson, and Michael Morse.

MSNBC is embedding five journalists apiece at the headquarters of both presidential campaigns. Peter Alexander, Yamiche Alcindor, Gabe Gutierrez, Natasha Korecki and Peter Nicholas will be with Vice President Kamala Harris, while Garrett Haake, Dasha Burns, Vaughn Hillyard, Matt Dixon and Henry Gomez are covering former President Donald Trump.

Back at the White House, look for Monica Alba, Mike Memoli, and Aaron Gilchrist to be covering news out of Washington, D.C. Another 100 correspondents will be spread out across the nation in such states as Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Texas, Nevada, and Nebraska.

Select MSNBC talent will also contribute analysis to MSNBC.com and the MSNBC app before, during and after Election Night.

Appears Morning Joe is ready to kiss and make up with Trump.

If you can't beat him, join him, lol.

I'm all about having alternate opinions on the network but we have to be cautious about giving a platform to conspiracies and lies.

Unless they are going to have Trump on and debate/fact check his claims in real time, what is the point of restarting communications with him?

Do Joe and Mika actually think they'd be able to reason with Trump or influence his policy decisions?

As I asked in the other post for election coverage,

Why doesn't MSNBC just focus on reporting on the actual news of the day, with indepth coverage of breaking news during evening hours, instead of just focusing on politics?  The channel can put political opinionated programs,  but I feel like they put way too much on the air.  I try not to watch the news channels because they're too focused on these types of programs,  but when I watch, I turn to msnbc, mainly because I watch NBC for regular news.

The main issue with NBC and the other networks are that they don't  provide additional reporting & coverage of important events of the day.  It's only half an hour in the evening for the major news headlines of the entire country and maybe additional coverage in the morning.  That' is why I hope msnbc & cnn would be an an outlet to provide that coverage.  Fox News probably won't because what they're doing is not news, just viewpoints from certain personalities.

As someone who has never been able to stand Joe or Mika, I'm so happy they did this. They are getting massive backlash from the core MSNBC Democrat viewer base (who apparently forgot Joe & Mika were Trump friendly in 2015/2016 and basically have the same personality traits as Trump) yet the Republicans still hate them for all the insults they spewed at Trump over the years after Trump cut off their access to him. MSNBC staff are even bashing Joe & Mika to FOX News Digital. Could this be the end of Morning Joe? It's already a non-factor for much of us on the west coast (if i'm up as early for Morning Joe to be on, I will be watching KTLA Morning News, not rants and raves from some self obsessed Florida couple who changes their views based on who gives them "access")
