Either the rest of the ABC 7s (New York and Chicago) will adopt the West Coast variant of the logo, or there was a mistake

(WLS/WABC)

Just a lazy oversight, there's another tab further up the page that's also had it wrong since day one of the web refresh.

Doubt it remember KGO didn’t adopt KABC’s variation until 2006. I don’t think they will.

KFSN has switched to….

Dispatch??? Also a new font for the logo.

Shocked and confused.

not to be nitpicky, but the talent open with Dale Yurong wearing a suit and tennis shoes?? very tacky.  I understand the need and most wear tennis shoes that usually aren't seen on camera, but in promos and opens, come on put on dress shoes to look half way decent and professional

Indeed-- if you're billed as talent in a major network station's local newscast (regardless of your function), you need to look like you take pride in being there and part of it (would have been worse if the shoes were dirty).

The ABC O&O lower thirds never become less disappointing....

While I wouldn't wear a suit with tennis shoes myself, I don't find an issue with Dale wearing them in the open. I think it is the station's attempt to make him more relatable. Even though he is a news anchor, he wants to be in with the trends, etc. If you pause the open, you will see in Margot's shots that she is wearing a strapless shirt while surrounded by her family. Again, not an issue. I like that the ABC stations group uses these opens to make their people apppear to be more human and not your average robotic news anchor.

Dale with the Jordans 4s!

I'm not a sneakers with suits fan myself, but at least the Jordans were nice lol.

im hoping KGO doesn’t go full on dispatch. They only use dispatch at the end of the morning newscast before the close which is the top 7 stories of the day “7 Things You Need to Know.”

Hmm let’s see if they pick up the “Eyewitness News.” 😝

Updated social media icon for KGO. Hmm.....

Truly an end of and era, though KGO picked up there soon to be old logo in 2006.

It was before then – I think the logo with the ABC in the lower left first popped up in late 2003, when they debuted the first of various graphics packages with Eurostile as the default font.

Still sad, I hope they also don't pick up dispatch, they don't need it I hope it doesn't become a main music theme on all O&Os, I mean WTVD had it from late 2001-2006, yes it could replace there current music but It doesn't fit all markets.

As of today's 5pm news, KGO has rebranded as "Eyewitness News." The logo has been updated to the WABC version (minus the mic flags), though the music and everything else have stayed the same.

Whenever anyone on here has suggested KGO should do this, I have long dismissed it, as it was KPIX's brand for a long time. Also, it feels a bit contrived and anachronistic to me to consciously choose to start calling your news brand "Eyewitness News" in 2026. I guess group-wide consistency is now more important for ABC, and it has been now more than a decade since KPIX was "Eyewitness News," so maybe people have forgotten about that by now.

We knew about KABC making the change tonight, and we also knew KGO was going to, but the rebrand to Eyewitness News is a surprise.

Here is the KGO open. A little bit of a sloppy launch, IMO...since the ABC stations group is going for consistency. I live in the LA DMA. On KABC this morning, I saw the WABC mic flag (new to KABC), the outgoing KABC mic flag and here on KGO you see their version of the ABC7 mic flag. If they are going for consistency, details matter.

It was only a matter of time before KGO would adopt it once KPIX dropped it.

Better late than never.

Better quality 5pm from @Archiva

The 6pm from S31MA

Wow ABC really wants the ABC 7 logo to be consistent in their top tier stations. The KGO switch was totally left field. I'm really going to miss the stations previous logos. It was those subtle differences that forged unique identities for them. There was a charm in that. Even back in the days when WLS' logo was awkwardly placed haha. I thought it was the most quirkiest.

I guess they are adopting this practice from the other national networks, like CBS and NBC. Now I wonder, if WABC will modify their unique "Eyewitness News" wordmark to match the ones on the other stations in the west.. I'm glad KGO kept their version of the ABC O&O theme. I still think its wild that KABC switched to the WABC music Dispatch theme. Its not a fit for LA in my opinion. The theme feels out of place for that region.

Fixed that for you. But I'm biased. 😂
