I saw earlier where Nexstar is now spinning it that they took the affiliation away from Scripps and moving it to Nexstar stations.  Only problem is that is in only possible in a few of the impacted markets.

There are two sides to every story and somewhere in the middle lies the truth. Personally, I err more toward the Scripps version of the story given (as stated) the number of markets impacted, the decline of CW programming; and Scripps ability to utilize ScrippsNews to fill programming holes

Yeah it pretty difficult to get WPLG on board with a subchannel. Especially that WPLG does News for WSFL and with them dumping the affiliation that newscast is likely over. That might put a bad taste in Grahams mouth that means Scripps was not happy with their deal.

The thing is that WPLG is no longer owned by Graham Media and its now owned by Berkshire Hathaway since 2014 but Graham does help WPLG with some stuff but it's not an LMA or a JSA. That and also because they no news for WSFL doesn't make it better.

Also going back to The Strait* A.K.A. Detroit, Michigan, Adell already has issues with The CW, Nexstar/Mission and The CW (Check September–November 2023) so there's no way that the CW is EVER in the near future gonna end up on Ch. 38. It's gonna end up on Ch. 4 on an subchannel; and forget about WJBK. That Fox O&O Affiliate is NEVER gonna get the CW, so is any of the Canadian stations. (CBET and CHWI)

(*In French, Détroit means Strait and the Detroit is named that because the city was situated on an pretty narrow passage of water connecting St. Clair River, Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River, all in Michigan.)

After a successful move late last September, The CW will continue to air the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants

for the next 3 years.

As part of the new deal, Miss Teen USA will return to broadcast television for the first time since 2007.

It's so odd to see Miss USA/Teen USA finally thriving again on The CW after years in limbo post-2015...while Miss America is stuck behind a $35 paywall on a niche pageant streaming site the same way something like international sports such as kabaddi are. Before the end of the decade we may be considering Miss America history out of their stubborn pride.

The funniest thing to come out of this would be AMG then getting legally involved in this mess because their oldest This TV affiliate gets bumped off or moved down on WDIV, or even more comedic, the CW is stuck on WDIV-DT5 because Graham doesn't want to get their Cozi and MeTV fans tangled up in multiple channel changes either and remains loyal to Byron, Weigel and NBC.

XD Imagine that,

"This is The CW Detroit on Channel 4.5"

In this case, They can move the classic programs down but NBC, Weigel, and Byron gonna get mad at WDIV, XD

Oh also, WADL is less likely to even get The CW now, XD

Assuming AMG itself even cares about This TV anymore. The network has lost a massive chunk of their carriage over the past few years, and I've heard speculation on other forums that it's probably not long for this world.

If The CW is truly bound for WDIV, it'll probably replace This TV, even if Graham has to pay off Bryon Allen.

I would imagine a subchannel.  They would be foolish to send Fox packing to Scripps and WGNT, or worse, Sinclair and WTVZ.

Don't forget Lockwood's WSKY

Also, the article mentions that WGN is rejoining the CW from WCIU as well as confirming 2 new homes from Scripps stations.

It will be a subchannel that is what they did with WOTV DT2 when they took The CW in West Michigan from Sinclair that is what will happen with Norfolk VA in my opinion. Not surprised after 8 years that The CW is coming home to WGN since they don't have the Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, or Blackhawks anymore that was the reason they went back to being independent.

Fox and Scripps seem like an odd fit anyway. Would Scripps even want Fox?

Scripps does already have Fox affiliations in Salt Lake City (KSTU), Fort Myers (WFTX), Boise (KNIN), Lansing (WSYM), Grand Rapids (WXMI), and it manages WFLX in West Palm Beach on behalf of Gray Television.

Since WGN-TV, Channel 9 doesn't have live Local sports telecasts, they can afford to grab The CW from WCIU and Weigel's probably gonna put The U back on 26.1.

And it'll 8 years since they removed the CW from WGN in 2016, which putted it on Fox-Owned MyNetworkTV O&O WPWR-TV Channel 50 because... the Sports and stuff back when WGN was ending the Ownership by Tribune Broadcasting/Media and an year before Sinclair Broadcast Group tried to aquire Tribune Media which failed so hard that Sinclair lost almost all of its reputation JUST in 2017-2018.

What about KUSI-TV in San Diego, California and WCTX-TV in Hartford-New Haven, Connecticut?

Even though KUSI-TV in San Diego, California is owned by Nexstar Media Group it's expected to become The CW affiliate owned-and-operated television station in the San Diego Market all they have to do is forcing KFMB-DT2 to drop The CW affiliate and become MyNetwork TV affiliate they might need to air live local sports I think it's time for KUSI-TV to become The CW affiliate and WCTX-TV in Hartford-New Haven, Connecticut should also need to become the new CW owned-and-operated television station in that market to air The CW Primetime Programming, live local sports: NASCAR, LIV Golf, ACC College Football and Basketball and WWE NXT that's the changes to The CW.

Nexstar foolishly boasting about wanting to use KUSI as a CW-owned station three years ahead of the fact all but ensured Tegna mass disaffiliates from the network when their contract ends in 2026.
