BehindNYNews 147 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Looks like a final decision is comming tomorrow...http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/nbc-williams-brewhaha-today-tomorrow-sources-article-1.2109987 ...This Hollywood reporter article states that top brass at nbcu are looking at the "lengthy suspension" option... http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/nbcuniversal-execs-mull-lengthy-suspension-772277?utm_source=twitter ...I would put my money on that...and if this turns out to be the case how long would it be a month? ,2 months?, or just wait and see? ...Stay Tuned. The article says a decision is expected "this week." So maybe tomorrow, but not necessarily.
nynewslover 283 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 The article says a decision is expected "this week." So maybe tomorrow, but not necessarily. "NBC officials are hoping to resolve their anchor nightmare "today or tomorrow," sources tell The Daily News."
BehindNYNews 147 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Jon Stewart leaving Comedy Central. NBC wanted him on Meet The Press. Could he be joining Nightly News? "NBC officials are hoping to resolve their anchor nightmare "today or tomorrow," sources tell The Daily News." Thank you . I read the second link because that's what he said worked.
Jterry 43 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Multiple sources reporting NBC to suspend Brian Williams 6 months without pay.
Glimmer 340 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE. Brian Williams suspended from NBC News for 6 months. https://twitter.com/KateAurthur/status/565312010884501504
NYNewser_676 26 Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Lester Holt to remain substitute for the 6 months
24994J 5890 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Well, now. I'm actually impressed with their decision. Outside of firing, this was about as severe as they could go. Now, we wait.
Glimmer 340 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Somehow I don't think we'll see Brian back at NBC News.
MidwestTV 1358 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Somehow I don't think we'll see Brian back at NBC News. At least not until August or September
BehindNYNews 147 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Somehow I don't think we'll see Brian back at NBC News. That's what others are saying too. In 6 months, Brian's fans will have moved on and if he comes back, people will just be reminded off what happened. I don't think we will see him return but we will see in August.
Glimmer 340 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 At least not until August or September Of 2016 is more like it...
nbc9houston 22 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Lester Holt to remain substitute for the 6 months Wonder who Mr. Holt will have filling in for him on Weekend Today and the weekend edition of Nightly News...
Action Newsroom 1376 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Somehow I don't think we'll see Brian back at NBC News. I have this distinct feeling too, but we will see come August Wonder who Mr. Holt will have filling in for him on Weekend Today and the weekend edition of Nightly News... I think Kate Snow, Peter Alexander, Willie Geist and maybe Natalie Morales and Hota Kotb. (I'm not really good at guessing games)
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 So...do they pull his Michael-Douglas-Voiced Opens, and remove his name from the broadcast?
Weeters 2173 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Somehow I don't think we'll see Brian back at NBC News. If they were going to fire him, they would have fired him. He'll be back in 6 months. Turness' letter indicates this is all the action they'll be taking.
NYNewser_676 26 Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 If they were going to fire him, they would have fired him. He'll be back in 6 months. Turness' letter indicates this is all the action they'll be taking. 6 months suspension in the industry is nearly unprecedented... I'm pretty sure he'll return, but it'll be interesting to see how they go about doing that
TVNewsLover 861 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Wonder who Mr. Holt will have filling in for him on Weekend Today and the weekend edition of Nightly News... I'm guessing Craig Melvin on Weekend Today as I believe he is a frequent sub for Lester there. NBC would be wise to use the weekend NN to test and ready an eventual successor and help build that persons profile. If Brian doesn't come back, it'll probably be Lester, but I can only see him going another 8-9 years.
BehindNYNews 147 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 This is probably going to involve some kind of interview on Today where Savannah or Matt sits down with him and he says "I'm sorry, I won't do it again," as many ways as he can think of.
mountainave 618 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Brian Stelter reporting that despite no comment from NBC on the subject, NBC Nightly News will drop Williams's name. https://twitter.com/brianstelter/status/565321524098654211
BehindNYNews 147 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I think Megyn Kelly said it best on the Kelly File, it's not that people don't like Brian, it's that they don't trust him. And that is a problem.
NYNewsCoverage 337 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I actually think they made the right decision. If they chose to let him go, it won't be as big of a deal in 6 months then it will tomorrow. By 6 months, people will get used to Lester Holt and some likely won't even care if Brian returns or not (notice that I said some, obviously not all, I know there are some die-hard BriWi fans out there). Do I think he gets let go and fired, I don't know yet. That will be the decision to be made in 6 months. Certainly an interesting turn of events.
DanielMaron 5 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 6 months is an eternity in this industry. If this was 30 years, pre internet/ social media, then this 6 months concept might work but I really don't see this circus going any where. The fact is the trust that he has built is destroyed forever and that won't change. I guarantee as he gets ready to return (if he even does) in late july, all of this will just heat up again. It's a shame, i really liked Brian but i personally wouldn't rely on him to tell me the news honestly.
JoseRM303 171 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 You don't have to get all snippy. Your right, the 9am isn't as serious but what's that have to do with Hoda. The 10am is really a different type of show. If you don't get it, I don't know how to explain. Nothing to do with Hoda but when the 9am hour frequently has Hollywood Celebrities guest co-hosting I would hardly call it a serious hour like the first 2 hours is. All I was saying if Tamron can anchor the some lighter 9am hour of Today and Hoda can do her 10am gabfest I wouldn't see no reason why Hoda couldn't anchor the first 2 hours of Today. I mean she did it when Savannah was out on leave that's all I'm saying.
